Lots of low ground where I’m at, not good farmground…lots of good winter cover…birds don’t have far to go if they’re moving to another location…lots of cedar belts, foodplots, good stands of prairie grass…over the decades I’ve hunted where I do, seems drought and heat have done the most damage to bird #’s…we’ve had some doozy blizzards, ice storms, etc…come through ok…hardest to endure is the intense, persistent drought and heat…chick killer…had a lot of big rains and chilly temps in June, too…does damage…I worry most about May-July than anything…but bad stuff can happen most anytime. I could see where the flat, rich farmground would be a vulnerability for the birds, greater distances between thermal covers with sloughs, trees, etc, ripped out, plowed under, etc…happening everywhere, but at supersonic speeds where land is the richest in yield and price.
