Man,,, can not catch a break. Last year hunted River first day out, hits the dam barbed wire and done till last week. Year before with tolzen on here, Odie hits a beaver stick and dang near dies. Done. Few years before that, Bandit, rips herself opening grouse season from the chin to the groin on wire, done for the year. This year Odie again, jabbed a stick in his foot. Done. No National... Frickin sucks... Dam dog deserves a go at it, dammit! Just got his FC, and has qualified for both open and am nationals 3 years in a row. Has CM at one already he finished in 2011. Dad, grand dad, great grand dad, and great great grand dad won a national. I had hopes he would be the fifth generation in a row. Close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades I guess.

Sad news!!! You both need to catch a big break!!

Thats bad luck but part of the deal. Tough duty being a bird dog.
My guys have done the same kind of stuff too. I have gotten pretty good with a stapler.

Hope for a speedy recovery.

FCS,

That's some bad luck partner. Of course most of us have gone through similar issues.I'm not a trial'r but can feel your pain. Hopefully your luckwill change.

World famous hall of fame trainer Dan Langhans, (who actualy found me Odie, and won those 4 nationals with Odies dad, gd,ggd,&gggdad) said many times, "There is no luck involved" LOL. Great man. You would walk by him going out and say "Good luck Dan" and he will quickly reply with that. Catches you off guard the first time everyone, LOL. Very sucessful trainer handler. Still running at 80 something and winning. Taught me a bunch of things. He won more nationals then anyone. It will be sad to see him give it up. Dansmirth kennels. Great guy.

Antibiotics are working. I have till the 20th to enter. If there is something still in the foot, it will fester back up and need to have surgery to remove it. Waiting game till last minute. I'll take all the good luck I can dig up, no matter what the great one says LOL. Actualy, just hope for no bad luck may be more suited. Either way, fingers crossed.

Tough news FCS. Hope his paw heals enough for you to make a educated decision and you get to run him in the nationals.

New guy question--I'm assuming his qualification doesn't carry over correct? If he doesn't get to run this year he will have to qualify all over again next year? How many points do you need to qualify for nationals?

Right, you have to qualify for each the open and amateur national, seperately each year. 2 points, which is 3rd or better, or 2 4th's. If you don't place you don't go. If you win a National, then your qualified for the rest of the dogs life.

Is that place in any FT or do they have specific trials set up just to qualify for Nationals? How many dogs usually make/run in Nationals? Thanks for putting up with the questions.
