SD- Miner & Sanborn County Crops

Anybody out there have a good guess on when the crops will come out this fall in Miner and Sanborn & Aurora counties. Everything I've read is that its been a wet spring & summer which usually means crops in late and harvested even latter. We normally go out for the opener but are looking to go either 3rd or 4th weekend with the hopes of crops being out. How is the hunting at that time?
Would appreciate any advice.

I can't say about Miner and Sanborn counties but overall the state has been quite wet this spring and also much cooler than normal. In Aberdeen we didn't have one day in July that the temps got to 90 or above. This will probably translate into slower and later maturing crops.

Personally, if it were me, I'd rather come out to SD and hunt the 3rd or 4th weekend. There will be a lot less hunting pressure. Living here I don't get too excited about hunting until at least November. Not as many hunters in the fields. Still a lot of birds.

There have been some bad storms going across SD yesterday and today dropping some large hail. Hopefully it won't impact the pheasants too bad.

Was up there two weeks ago and will actually go again today.
There were lots of wet spots inthe field and things got in a little late. There are so many factors re weather bearing on when things got harvested. Assuming farmers went to shorter term corn because of late planting, harvest COULD be as normal, whatever that is. Last year saw a fairly late harvest. We were hunting near Doland the weekend before Thanksgiving and a lot of the corn was still in.
Also some hail west of Artesian and prehaps in other areas. Saw a corn field that was replanted post 6/24. Was under a foot tall two weeks ago and I can not see how it could catch up.
Overall, I would go later, but it is always a crap shoot in SD.

About the same. Corn ok and harvest will be avg I would say with avg. conditions going forward. The beans do not look all that productive, but provide little cover or effect re pheasant hunting by the time the season rolls around. Remember, seldom is the bulk of the corn out the first two weeks unless they chopped a bunch beacause of drought conditions, and that ain't happening.
