Rethinking Backup Gun

I started to rethink on type of backup gun, as the wife is thinking about taking up hunting. Would like thoghts on a Benelli Cordoba 20 ga as gun for the wife and backup gun for me. For her, the gun would be primarily a pheasant gun. For me, a bad weather pheasant gun and a few days of waterfowling. Does anybody use a 20 for waterfowl with steel loads or mainly other non-toxic loads like hevi-shot?

Check out the 20 guage silver benelli montefeltro. It only weighs 5#6oz. Your wife could carry it all day long! Also it comes chambered in 3"" for your waterfowl hunting.
 
Shot plenty of geese and ducks with the 20 popper!! Same speed as 12 gauge shells , just a few less pellets!!! Love using it on the fast Woodies cuttin' through the trees!!!:thumbsup: Have a Al391 gold, light & fast !!!!!

If you are thinking Benelli and something for your wife I would lean towards the M2 with the Comfortech stock for reduced felt recoil. The gun is lighter than the Cordoba and has a shorter barrel (24" or 26"). While the Monte is also a great choice, the M2 with the synthetic stock fits the bill a little better as a "bad weather pheasant gun".
 
I agree with Dakotazeb...I have an older M1 that shoots like a dream. The M2 is significantly cheaper and other than the soft touch finish and barrel, it has the same guts. I don't have the comfortech stock but recommend it for the wife.

I have a Benelli M2 12 ga and it shoots really good.
