Depends on what you consider a good dog. I have hunted with lots of guys who have dogs they feel are good hunting dogs. But they definition varies due to the hunters expectations. I have never seen a good hunting dog that hasn't had some sort of training. Even if it is just basic obedience it all helps in the field.
