Regent hunting

Can’t blame a guy for making a buck if he can
Not my cup of tea but if he has the market and can make $$ doing it good for him
Capitalism is what makes this country great
Need some outfits like his to slim up the pressure on our public ground
If they are not chasing private ground birds they are competing with us on public

This whole pay to play thing has been hashed out a million times on this forum. It costs money to provide habitat. Do you pay to golf? If you don’t want to pay that’s your choice. He’s trying to offset his expenses, can’t blame him.

Thumbs down to paying for golf. Those guys roll up to the club in their fancy SUV's and Gucci clubs and clothes - drinking White Claws. I prefer using Onx to find a suitable pasture with enough gopher holes to make an 18 hole golf course. I wear camo so nobody else finds my course and starts spotlighting it in their homemade videos. The only person that gets to go with me to my secret courses is my cousin and nephew. I don't take them very often because they throw their clubs and hit me. We golf silently so they didn't even yell fore. If you go with me, get your own cart because my dog will be riding with me on the seat. Crates are for sissies. Be prepared to drink Pabst and there will be no grab ass while we play.

This can’t be the perfect post because there’s nothing about cheap beer, crappy trucks or taking a dump. Go back and add that then you’ll have the perfect goose post ( you can add mama and a train if you want but it’s not necessary)

😆😆

I run 1600 acres of all crp land outside of regent. We are allowing hunters back again since the bird numbers are up. We charge 225$ per gun per day to hunt and 100$ a night per hunter if you want to lodge with us. Opening weekend group came out with 35 birds in 4 days so they did pretty well. All wild birds as well. We don't do pen raised birds we cater to hunters that enjoy the hunt! We have openings the last 2 weeks of October and 1st week of November. I've attached some pictures from this year and will attach the lodging pictures below as well. We can fit 12 hunters total. Message me or comment if your intrested and I can provide more details
Some super nice habitat!

I thought this forum was supposed to be about fellow upland game lovers were doing on their hunts. I can’t really believe what I’m reading.

SW ND has been pay to play for some time. Nothing new except bird numbers are not quite what they were some years ago.

SW ND also does not have the same amount of cover that most of ND does. What it has is offer are milder temperatures and more moderate rainfall than further north or east.

When winter does hit SW ND ... the pheasants haul it in mass to the shelter belts and haystacks of the rancher's farmyards.

Let's compare Dickinson (SW ND) and Devils Lake (NE ND)

Dickinson: January average temp 27F and average snowfall 6.5 inches
Devils Lake: January average temp 17F and average snowfall 17 inches

Without SW ND rancher's ... pheasants, wild turkeys and deer would find it difficult (maybe impossible) to survive those winters when SW ND is hit as hard (and long) as NE ND.

That dickinson area is very cold all winter!

All relative. Eastern Montana is in the northern banana belt so ... yes Dickinson is more often colder than say Billings which has an average January temperature of 37F.
I spent a winter in dickinson years ago.It was very chilly! That being said, eastern mt. Is extremely dry and hot this year.I don't know why.

I don’t think there are too many ranchers left in the regent Mott country as there used to be but yet they still have birds. Most have switched to farming. What I do believe is most left standing food plots up next to shelter belts which do save birds against snow and cold and provide food. Mother Nature always controls the birds. There are two winter scenarios that seem to determine the bird population in the sw part of the state and those are if you get a 2 foot snowstorm with a 40 mph wind and the birds are in cattails or crp they will get buried and die. The next scenario is if you get a freezing rain before a snowstorm most birds won’t make it unless you have an immediate warmup. I do hope we have another easy winter though as I feel the birds could rebound very well next year.
