rain and storms today...

Dad reported getting 1.5" last night out west. Hopefully DC got some too (probably should'a put this in Maynard's Ponderosa drought thread, but I wanted to talk dove too).

Anyway, I'm wondering if this will push the dove-birds out and maybe bring some new migratory birds in from up N. Whadd'ya guys think? The low tonight is going to be in the upper 40's....that's pretty chilly for the little birds, especially after getting soaked.

It ain't gonna help the farmers much or the pheasants at this point, but a few fall rains would sure help scenting conditions on the opener:thumbsup:

Bad news is it is hailing back home (N Lyon county) right now. 1" stones and high winds. I sure hope the few coveys of quail I know up there can find shelter!!

KB, Your dad lives by La Crosse doesn't he? I agree about being a little too late but I will take it. Sorry to hear about the hail I hope it stays south of Jeff Co. I don't want the only rooster in the county to die:eek: Cool temps are nice though

Yep, he does. Apparently the storm passed through C KS last night.

What a storm last evening. I should have taken some pictures of those thunder heads blooming. I just stood in awe and watched them boil. I was in Dodge, but needed to get to the Ponderosa to start irrigation at 7PM. Kept going to the computer watching radar, then back outside. Was zoomed in on the ranch and it was getting pounded with rain. Texted the hired hand that he wouldn't be farming on Friday and I would stay in Dodge and we would go out after lunch today, which we did. I am ready to plow some serious mud. The closer we get the more I think I have been had. Sure enough get to the ranch and it is dry. I have one of those big rain gauges and I tip it up and there is a drop in there, but wasn't even enough to be able to shake it out. So much for believing the radar.

Sorry to hear that Maynard, but the same down here last night......dust storm tonight.....no rain:mad:

That must have been some serious "rain dance" you did this time. I think you might be getting the hang of it but be careful, you don't want to overdo it and get flooding.
