Puppy Progress?

I know there are a couple of other guys out there with new pups. How's the training and everything going? This cold weather doesn't help with doing much outside. What plans do you have with your pup? I was happy this morning when Champ went out to the bathroom with a -21 wind chill.

Yes, he is. He'll need to be to deal with the additional snow that's on the way. I've been getting things together so Champ and I can test in NAVHDA this year. This will be a first with me, so we'll see how it goes. I also plan to do AKC hunt tests with him. But I've got a while to I start with any of that stuff. In the mean time, Champ is getting ready for another great fall event:

Niiiicccceeee!! You should put that photo up in the Photo Contest Thread!

Boy your plate is going to be full. It will be great to follow the journey!

Has either of the boys adopted Champ?:)

Love the pictures! :coolpics: Why couldn't you run the other dogs in those trials? Good luck when you do it and keep us informed.

I did do AKC hunt tests with Nittany and Blitz but NAVHDA will be new. I thought it would be best if I start something new with Champ since the other two are probably set in their ways.

Both boys have taken to Champ and have been helpful (at times). Champ likes to snuggle with anybody at this point. And I'm sure the boys and dogs will keep me quite busy for the next several years!

Hi everyone this is my first post, and I just wanted to say you guys have some great looking dogs. I hope I bump into a few of you in the field someday. I am picking up this little girl on saturday. I am looking forward to getting started and I am sure I will need to pick your brains from time to time.:)

Welcome and nice pup! What part of PA are you from?

Trialhunt,

Welcome to the site! That's a fine looking pup. Does that young lady have a name yet?
Feel free to ask all the questions you want, no one will judge you here, we all have the same passion.
Sit back and enjoy the site!

Thank you very much guys. We are planning on calling the little cutie Ember. I am from central Pa between Altoona and State College (little town called Bellwood). I have had a few pointers in the past but never devoted the training they deserved. I am determined this pup is going to grow into a fine hunting dog.

I did plan to drive to western PA for a hunt today since I had off but weather and sick kids caused a change of plans. But at least I got the dogs out to run a little since we warmed up to the 20's today. Champ does well but I keep things short since it is so cold outside.

He looks a little cold but he ran well:

Champ tries his best to keep up with the two big dogs.

Champ has no issues with the cap gun and he'll get more birds in a few weeks once the weather clears and I have a little more time.

I did see about 4 hens and a rooster in some cover that is close to the road. I never run the dogs in this area but I think that's where most of the birds hang out in the winter since there is a row of pine trees beside it.

Brought Ember home on saturday and she is doing lots of sleeping like a typical pup. our other dogs have taken to her quite well and I am amazed at how quickly she is adjusting to our home. Looking forward to the future:)

I'll bet you guys are glad to get Ember home where she belongs. Bringing in a new pup always holds so much promise, who knows what memories will be made, especialy with a gun dog.
What other breeds of dogs do you have? The Shepard seems to have taken the little girl in. Keep us up to date.
