i haven't had a dog trained by him but Travis Ruff is stand up guy. Rented his cabin and toured his facilities. Talked over email several times about dogs and seems to be very responding and long history of training bird dogs.
 
River, I've talked to Travis on the phone before, but don't have experience with his dogs. Other options that I do have experience with and would recommend are Ray Brooks at Quail Rise Kennel in Hutchinson, Jim Gourley at Setter Dogs in Beverly, and Jim Boyles at Rosewood Kennel in Larned. If you have a pointing lab or retriever, you might consider Brice Romero from over by Goddard.
