Anyone know of any REASONABLE prairie chicken guides. My folks always talked about how much fun they were to hunt around Babcock WI. in the early 30's. I'd sure like to get some before the Grim Reaper shows up. Thanks.

Nasty, I don't even know of ANY Prairie Chicken guides. Probably because most outfitters would consider them a bonus bird.

If you're willing to come to Kansas then yes, Jim Gourley of Setter Dogs is your man. If you need more information let me know and I'll hook you up. He guides Deer, Pheasant, Quail and turkey also.

u trying to hunt em in WI??? think there all gone my friend you only have sharptails left in cheeseland lol got to apply to hunt em...

no need for guides hit the FT PIERRE NTL GRASSLANDS do a little research on what prairie grouse live in & make a few calls to a local biologist in the area on good starting spots & just walk walk walk man...

no need to rush your hunt in fear of the reaper??? there are loads of prairie chickens left man dont fall for the B/S ive seen hundreds in MN & we have no prairie chicken population compared to SD,NE & KS

get out there after them early in the season & they hold great for pointing dogs go out there after a bunch of guys & dogs have been through the area late season you will be lucky to get a shot off at a hole flock flushing wild... they use there eyes more then any other upland bird species keep that in mind...

they also may stink more then a pheasant but they dont leave the same kind of scent trail as a pheasant dose a pheasant walks around alot when they land a prairie chicken lands & dose not walk far most the time they fly to there food they fly to there bedding & loafing areas & land & dont move much so when ur dog smells them they are not far away most the time in my experience...

have fun skip the guides lol u get more out of the hunt when you dont pay 4 it best of luck to you on ur trip post pics man...
