Pointer or flusher

Flushers will hit the heavy cover better than a pointer. I know that. Pointers can hold down a bird so that they don't run as much and you get closer shots and you can get close to Burns sometimes with a pointer, we're a flusher will just run them out of range.

I have seen plenty of pointers that will bust cattails all day without wearing down. I have seen others that won’t

I hunted with a couple of wire hairs yesterday. They were right of the thick of the phragmites while my dogs spent most of their time walking the edge with me.

I have a GWP and she will bust cattails and any kind of brush all day. Especially if the birds are in there. Excellent dog. I had to yellow labs and they did the same. I think alot of it comes down to what the bird does, runs, holds or flushes right away. Jmo

Yes, but generally speaking, I think a lab is the best heavy cover dog in my opinion. Pointers are great for holding a bird, so the hunter can get close. German shorthairs get very cold when it gets cold. I don't use one of those big huge vest type things, I do have a neoprene thing waterfowl hunting. It's made by Browning.

I think Id shoot more birds over a Black Lab, but I prefer to hunt over a pointer.. so I have a pointer, for now..
