2.5” here early this morning…not a romantic reference, rainfall….
Isn't this one about the worst! I won't answer a call while hunting. For sure! And not looking at your phone while walking afield helps, too! I have to admit I see this a fair amount!!!!!!! AYFKM? “Are you F’ng Kidding Me?” Crazy….
Yep, the 2 most important pieces of advice for hunting with a flusher. Pay at least 246% attention to said flusher, & carry your shotgun "ready". Many youtube hunting videos can teach bad habits. Depending on the situation, abiding by this advice can easily shorten your shot by 5-10 yds, or even more.
Experienced dogs DO care! They work their fool butts off to find & flush pheasants, & they deserve as much opportunity as possible to recover/retrieve them, which makes them even happier! So aside from the fact that being in tune with my dog makes ME the happiest, I owe it to my dog to shoot every rooster that gives me a chance.I don’t care much about limits but it was frustrating for the dog.
I am hearing similar things from my area. Appears to be really good this year.I left my area around 7:15 am yesterday, very dewy and on the chilly side…45, 46….gravel roads near habitat were loaded with birds…hens with chicks, mainly…one road I drove I was forced to putt along at 2-3 mph…there were 75-100 birds in the 80 yards in front of me…that’s what I could see…8-10 hens and their broods, which varied drastically in size. It was like a cattle drive, but very small cattle that could fly. Fun regardless, should be real fun…![]()
