Pheasants Forever Banquet Ideas

Long time lurker on here but I'd like to get some fresh ideas for giveaways. I'd looking for unique firearms or giveaways under $1,000 that you'd like to have but not like to pay for. For example, I gave away a 20ga side by side last year and people loved it (I won it and I do love it as well!).

Hit me with you'd like to see at events that would excite you enough to throw money indiscriminately to help us purchase more land!

Aa a committee member we strive to give away guns that most wouldn't buy. Not because they are bad but because they aren't "go to" guns. 410 leveraction is a great example. A Snow Goose gun with a extended magazine.

We also give away plenty of better guns. Browning Sweet 16 kind of falls in both categories. Also raffles for dog stuff and camping gear.

Our chapter usually does a bunch of raffles for guns that I don't want to own so I don't buy tickets.
Example are a Mossberg pump, CZ SxS or O/U, Steven's 555 or any Stoeger. Now if they did a raffle for a Browning Sweet Sixteen, a Benelli auto, or a Beretta Auto or O/U, a Franchi auto or O/U, I'd buy a ticket for that and pay more for the ticket. I also am not a big fan of 28 gauges. Last year they had two 28 gauges. If it a 12, 16 or 20 I'm much more likely to buy a ticket.
I may not be the "average" banquet attendee but I will buy tickets for something I want, but won't buy for something that I don't want.

Not sure where you are from, but welcome to the forum. I am in Iowa and I often see rifles in the mixes, 270, 30-06 etc,...if you aren't in a state where you can deer hunt with the rifle cartridge, maybe pick one that you can hunt with. I guess I have pretty much anything I would want. Maybe a Tommy gun, the price to get it might be a bit higher than most, but I bet it would get the bidders fired-up! 1911s, maybe try a double stack or a 10mm. I love Springfield Armory XDm pistols. S&W or Ruger wheel guns; 357, 44 or 45. Maybe nicer shotguns, not the special editions or PF engraved, but ones to use. Maybe a 5.7X28 (Ruger 57). A few ARs are always good, maybe a heavy barreled varmint rig in 204 or just 223....or an AR10 in 243. Or ARs in the new deer legal calibers would likely be a big hit there. Crap, I should have made these suggestions to our PF directors! Hope you have a great banquet and can sometime get-in on a new land acquisition. A lot of downers on PF here, but they would sure hunt any ground PF can get and turn into public habitat.

M.C. Just out of curiosity, you are brand new, why did you not put in a location (even just a state) when you signed up? You aren't alone, many here don't and I am not sure what they are scared of....Hot Spotting your state??? Share your thoughts if you don't mind.

I’m in Minnesota and I guess I didn’t go that far into it for the state. I am a public land warrior and routinely take first timers out so I’m not worried about giving away my spots 🙂

I appreciate the feedback and glad to know I’m on the right track with the firearms we’re looking at!

Any fun games that people enjoy playing?

I am a committee member for out PF chapter in MN, we strive to have a list of guns that will appeal to everyone. We have plenty of guns in the $400-600 range, a couple around $1000 and then usually 3-4 in the $1500-3000 range. This year we will be doing the new PF Browning safe and including a $1000 gun with it. Should be a pretty sweet raffle to win!

I heard Minnesota cracked down on games of chance as illegal gambling so better find out about that.
Oh trust me I am well aware of the state of MN and the BS they are doing to Non-profits like PF and DU. We had to modify our banquet last year because of these new regulations that they were trying to implement, so it's nothing new for us and our chapter!

Mike C may not be aware of them.😉

Henry Golden Boy or Big Boy adds a little bling
Or for something different a Mares Leg rifle - from various Mfg can be bought for $400- $1000
Maybe a gun safe?
Arica safari can be bought @ discounted prices
Auction a vasectomy- donated by a local doctor- lady only bidding

I think the "gun I wouldn't buy" is a slippery slope, the gun I wouldn't buy but would love to own is a pretty narrow window. I won a O/U .410 a while back, I haven't bought a ticket since. I hate being a sore looser but I was frustrated that the retailer that was the FFL wouldn't even give me store credit. I suppose they didn't want it either!

I like the idea of gun safes, a couple months of dog training with a local pro, or a drawer system from Decked.

You should have told them to auction it off and you would split 50/50 of whatever it brought at the auction.
I'd rather have cash in my pocket than a gun I don't want.

I am.guessing that o/u was something they wouldn't stock but was purchased for the banquet. Some fflers do sell guns at a discount to the banquets to be rid of them. Then someone wins it and wants full retail + 20% in store credit.

Not saying that was you but why buy raffles tickets for something you don't want? When I do that it is with the intent to just donate it back. The money was a donation anyways.

Silent auctions have been a great money maker. Everyone gets a number, that way you don’t know who you are betting against.
Have some it items for the ladies. We once had a wife and husband bidding against each other, unknowningly. People might not raise their
hand, but will write their number down. Have fun with it.

I know it was a donation and that is why I bought it, like most gun raffles there were a couple of desirable guns, and a bunch of misfits of science.

I didn't want full retail + 20%, I asked for store credit. This was a win for the store if I used the credit for anything besides a firearm with their minuscule mark ups, unlike fall apart clothing with its giant markups!

I was trying to help the OP with my reasoning for avoiding oddball guns.

We gave away some 149.99 22 revolvers 1 banquet. I was furious about that but at least a few of the guys who won 1 were happy.

It won't happen again on my watch.

How about a Decked Draw system for a pickup bed.

A flat of shells is a great idea. I know most gun raffles I see are for guns I would never use. Oddball pistols and cheap Turkish shotguns. I've bid on nice gun cases and also prize packages from the local butcher at last years banquet.
