Pheasant Fest

Well if you read thru this thread you will realize you can't take it all in in 1 day.

I do realize there is a good reason for the event to move around the US so as it is easier for other geographic areas to attend. And that is why it does move around.

I hope you are still able to support a local chapter.

I'd like to go but Minneapolis does not appeal to me, particularly in winter. Been there, done that when I was banking. BUT I have been to pheasant Fests in Kansas City, Des Moines, Omaha and Chicago, and I am a Life Member of PF, bidding at banquets, giving seed to farmer friends etc.
I can say that My wife and I have enjoyed every Fest we've attended; you can see the newest in shotguns from CZ, Remington and others. Specialty ammo makers were present at the last one. If you're looking for boots or hunting clothing, several vendors are there. The upland sporting magazines are there, as are several guides/outfitters. Cooking demonstrations, dog breeders and trainers, and habitat specialists are also present.
The crowds can be annoying but it helps to know they are, for the most part, kindred spirits. My wife and I plan to go next year. If you can, try to make at least one Fest. I don't think you'll regret ti.
That post is spot on!

I hit up Phez Fest in Omaha and gotta say that it might be a good fit for some guys but there wasn't much about actual phez hunting. The gun booths were all about who had the most obscure, hipster double barrel, I talked to the guys from Winner chanber of commerce and they didn't have anything to say about local public land other than it was good. I expected to talk to guys about huntin strategies and stuff but the booth peoples all just wanted to sell somethihg. I more of a meat and potatos guy aand don't really care about the fancy add ons that these showcases are about.
You might have better served to hit the multitude of seminars for some "actual hunting situation information", not sure what booth you were expecting help from. I think they have or had speakers that address public hunting areas. I talked to the Winner SD chamber guys in Omaha too, got a good lead on a place to shoot prairie dawgs from them!

It doesn't move really all that far. Typically it is held in Minnesota, Nebraska, South Dakota mostly all around this region. Disappointing they don't bring it to Denver or some place else once in awhile.

Once in KC that I can recall. I planned to go to that one, but something came up and I didn't make it. If Sioux Falls has the facilities, I would bet Wichita does. If it came back to KC or if it came to Wichita I'd probably try to go.

Pretty sure Wichita can't handle it. Sioux Falls is marginally adequate. I think the support the city gives allows it to happen.

I would drive anywhere to attend, its after the season is over and gives me a good excuse to go and check out any new gear, guns, etc... Plus it's usually during winter and hell I would rather drive 8-10hrs to get out of the house for a extended weekend with the wife than sit and stare at the snow through a window at home.

I would have loved to have made it, but with my work schedule I would have had to take four days of vacation. When I weighed that versus saving that vacation time for hunting this Fall, I could not justify it. I will not miss Sioux Falls next year though. Just an hour up the road from me!
