Opening Day

It begins...... I'll be hunting around Redfield during the opener. I try to make a trip each year, SD is a great place to be in the fall.

How about you?

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Lock and Load!

Me along with 2 other guys are making the trip out there. I've never been before and I'm looking forward to it. Hunting around webster on mostly public and maybe a little private.

I'll be hunting with a friend in the Huron area this year for the opener. Bringing along a new lab pup this year so I am really looking forward to getting him into some birds.

Have a great hunt.

Ive been out in the Waubay/Webster area for about 5 years and decided to hunt the first week of Dec this year instead. Im hoping most of the corn will be out by then. I hunt 2 Goldens and the heat has been bad most years early on.

I'll be doing some filming at J Bar Lazy 7, Cattail Haven and Pheasant Camp Lodge camps. Bringing my sons new lab with for some experience. Not even packing a gun if you can believe that.

Have a great and safe hunt everyone.

Well guys, this is going to sound a little strange to most of you. Me living in South Dakota, etc. But this weekend when the season opens in SD I will be hunting in Minnesota. We'll be hunting Thursday thru Saturday. I'm originally from SW Minn. and have been going back there at this time that past 4 years to hunt with some old high school buddys. We usually meet over the Thanskgiving weekend also.

We log a lot of miles per bird shot but we always have decent luck. Afterall, it's not about the nunber of birds harvested. The fact I'm out in the field hunting and getting together with good friends, that's what it's all about.

I'll get in my share of SD hunting before the end of the season. Already logged 3 days and 7 birds during the Resident Only season.

Everyone have a safe hunt and remember to just enjoy your time in the field.

Heading out to the Winner area to hunt saturday and sunday. Looks like the weather will be phenomenal, really looking forward to getting out there into the fields and seeing those roosters take flight! There are about 10 family members that hunt together in our group, and we have three goldens, one a 11 year old veteran who refuses to stay home, a 6 year old female, and a 2 year old male who came from one of the litters of the male and female. It's great to see the dogs work together and I'm excited to see how the 2 year old does in his second season. We kept him out last year on opener as we thought it might be a bit much for him, I can only imagine he will be beyond excited this weekend with so many birds around.

Will be deer hunting the same land in November so hoping to push out a few big bucks as well!

Good luck everyone and stay safe!

Heading up to the Clark, SD area on Thursday for some hunting fun. It's my first time in South Dakota and I'm really looking forward to it. I read the summer brood survey and it looks like it'll be pretty good. I'm hoping to get some feedback from hunters who went out this weekend. Hopefully they had great success today and we'll see a long, exciting season.

I hunted the Clark area yesterday and today. We didnt do to bad but there is alot of crop still in the field so it is making the hunting difficult.

That's what I've heard. One of my hunting partners is going to call his friend (who owns the farm we're hunting) to find out about the crop situation. I should know more tomorrow but I assume we're going to deal with the same problems everyone else is experiencing right now due to late crops in the field.

hunted around the Winner area this weekend, every single corn field i saw still had standing crops, but we still saw plenty of birds. Shot out limit both days, 18 saturday and 24 sunday and sunday we were done by 2:00. Beautiful weather for the hunters but the dogs had a hard time yesterday with the heat, it was around 80 degrees where we were. Will be back out again in November, already looking forward to it!

Sunday in South Dakota was pretty hot! I was in my short sleeved shirt and I was sweating. Great day of hunting though.

Is that all we get for details webguy? Some of us spend 20 or 30 minutes giving details, so our fellow forum members can allow their imaginations to take them to the field "with" us. How many birds did you see? How many did you MISS?

:p:p Ha ha ha! I'm back at the office today sorting through 1,500 photos, and writing a few hunting journals. So, I'll give you the 411 here shortly. We hunted out in Hamill, South Dakota with the Hamill guys, 2 guys from Sioux Falls and 7 guys from Wyoming. Pretty good shots in the group, so we limited out in no time. The 2nd day I blocked a corner of a cornfield on the 2nd push I had 3 roosters down in about 2 minutes. The birds were flying everywhere and running around in the corn like crazy. I'll give you the 411 with photos shortly. I have some great photos to share.... here's a few below as a sample, otherwise there are more photos here
