Let's hope this comes to fruition. This may just be the best opener in years w/ cool temps, moisture, and all of the crops out:cheers:

After hunting in high 70's in SW North Dakota the last few days, snow sounds pretty good! I can't remember ever hunting pheasants in Nov. with short-sleeves and the air-conditioning on in the truck between fields. The only thing keeping the dogs going was spending 1/2 of their time swimming in creek water next to the sloughs being hunted.

Rude and ruthless, bone chilling, wintery cold after the run of summery weather.
I can hardly wait! :p

Well, the weather forecast continues to indicate a cold front/storm moving through. The expectations are quite high for moisture. Crops are out, birds did pretty well, this is shaping up to be a very good opener:cheers: The dogs can go all day if it stays below 55 degrees, especially if there is some cloud cover and a bit of wind.

No snow in my forecast :(

Sat Nov 13 Partly Cloudy 54° 25° 20%
Sun Nov 14 Partly Cloudy 55° 30° 10%

Does show snow on Tuesday and Wednesday though, but I won't get out again until after Christmas.

Some Moisture moving in!! Looks like a 50% chance on Friday!

I'm betting on rain, cold soaking, leak down the back of your neck stuff. All birds hold like ticks, give off little scent. Heavy Cover, Slooow, marching orders of the day. Check the seams on your rain gear, and the condition of your emergency extrication equipment. lots of sports holed up at the local bistro by noon, have all the fields and dumb cluck birds to yourself. They sure look small when their wet!

.3" already on the ground where I'm headed. I'll deal w/ the muddy roads, I'm just happy to have some moisture for the dogs:thumbsup:

KB, Good luck this weekend!!! Are you close to where I am going????

I'm going to NE Kansas this weekend, hunt a friend's farm, co-miserate on the state agriculture, ( livestock producer), and the lack of birds. I'd go farther west but the twins are in the school musical, so it's three nights of "The Music Man" for me, starting tonight, and closer to home. Looks like the 2" rain will be right on top of me. But, like Christmas, opening day only comes once a year. I'll let you all know how few birds there are really. Some of you may get some wet snow, if go far enough out. Good Luck to all, be safe.

well thanks to the rain, my group has officially bailed this weekend, looks like quail close to home, prolly wont be very good, but i gotta get out regardless

I got one word ,Squeeky-P !!!!!! It is flippin' opening weekend!!!!! Go out and get a limit and send them all a photo!!!!

you want your buddies to skip out on you especially on opening weekend that way you can have all the bounty for yourself and you can say man you should have been there

yeh, I would go just to go and when I got back I would rub it in, even if I did not have much luck, at least you were out, let the panty waist girls stay at home. :)

knowin me ill end movin farther and farther west and be prime pheasant country before i know it :)
