Good luck to all on Saturday. Hope you find em where ever they are. I'm going to try my luck around Abiline area. If nothing else it will be a good day for a fall walk. Looks like its going to be wonderful weather accross the state.

Here's to a great season and hope it will be full of great memories.

I hunt round there a couple time a year and usually do pretty good. Didn't go last year but going over thanksgiving weekend to my friend place off Jeep road.

Im just about ready as well! I have to work this weekend but i will see what i do after work. Waiting on my ll bean briar chaps, should arrive by Friday i hope.

Good luck and be safe gentlemen. Be thinking about y'all while I'm working this weekend. Looking forward to hearing about your adventures afield.

Good luck to all out KS way this weekend. Staying local here in Colorado...will be heading out by Dodge the weekend before Turkey Day for our annual KS pheasant hunt. Been doing it since 1996 and even though the numbers are down, can't be any worse than the one bird my son and I got last year in South Dakota:mad::(

Looking forward to eating some good steaks and burgers at the Bad Habit  and beverages of course!!

It is upon us, isn't it?

Remember, the season doesn't last all year and none of us will live forever. Get out there, get out there, for goodness sake, get out there!

I cant wait to get home. I am in Ohio right now working but will be home thursday night and then headed west friday evening. I even have my 9 yr old boy going for his first all weekend hunt. He will be carrying his little 410 empty and no shells just to get used to it.

Might see ya out there, have a few places off of Jeep Rd. also. Headed out to Quinter for the opener, after some duck hunting on Friday morning. Good hunting and be safe everybody.

I had been doing a really good job of keeping my cool, but then I watched a pheasant hunting show on the outdoor channel... The place they were hunting reminded me so much of one of my favorite draws out West, and they were smoking the birds, and dogs were running all over the place fetching birds... It put my mind right back in that draw, back in the "glory days" of a few years ago when it was loaded with birds.

So I officially lost all sense after watching that show and I am now a total wreck...:D I think I'll totally strip down the shotgun and get it clean-as-new... And then I can probably kill another day by totally emptying out all my vests and bags and repacking all that stuff...

I don't see me getting out this weekend, but there will definitely be a few short hunts next week to take the edge off.

Good luck to all you hard-core opening weekend hunters.

Well its 2:10 am here in PA. Heading to the airport for my annual pilgramage to KS. Birds or no Birds.....maybe No Birds but I am still comin'. Looking forward to seeing family and friends. That is what it is about right? Have fun to all and be safe.

I am even farther from home now in secaucus new jersey but will be back home in spring hill kansas within 24 hours to get ready. Thats 1230 road miles NOT airplane miles. Gonna have my foot thru the floor. My less than 2 yr old gsp was warmed up this past weekend on a game bird farm with rock solid points and good cripple catching. I hope we at least get her into a good whiff of wild birds. I dont have enough dog or gun power to cover big fields but will have fun scaring em hopefully. It's killing me.
