OK Give it up>>>Where have the limits been?

how soon we forget, You were with me the last day of last year and we were neck deep in birds no where near Burlington

Oops ,my bad - yes my memory is a bit old & does get a little criss-crossed at times - after a man has spent enough of his lifetime hunting, it all starts running together once in awhile! :( Now that you have properly jolted/corrected my memory - it was actually on New Yr's & shortly thereafter that I was out in Burlington & surrounding areas and there were still plenty of birds for carryover in all my private spots (although pretty piss-poor pickings on the actual Round-Up properties)...

P.S. PLEASE don't let my less-than-photographic & date-challenged brain convey any ungratefulness to you! It was one of my better phez memories to date (in brutal cold & snow as I recall), your dog was one of the best I've seen & still haven't forgot what you taught me about "trusting my dog more" instead of making him a robot zig-zag slave for me, and the camaraderie was great - hope you'll still let me come crawling in the back door to do it again & I get the chance to return the favor with some of my sweet-spots!!! :D :10sign:

Its all good HHR I had to go to my phone to look at the text msgs from last year to figure that out, Yup gettin old sucks, And yes it was very cold but good. Hope to do it again this year sometime.

The short version is 12 guys, 9 birds harvested around Yuma on Saturday. It was bittersweet for me as my 9 mo old yellow pointing lab didn't get his vet pass to make the trip. The S. Dakota stiches are out now and he should be good to go within a week. I'll abstain until he can go. We had only one brittany working with us. She worked herself to a frazzle covering a line of 9-10 of us depending on the number of blockers. She made several nice points and helped us find some of the birds but she doesn't retrieve. I brought back one and lost one-the gang and the brittany couldn't find it. I hated that.

We saw a good number of birds but they seemed to have their late season tactics all figured out already. It seemed that there were even more hunters than normal on opening day--lots of traffic, lots of folks showing lack of common sense on where they parked, etc. It's something that I know I will have to put up with on opening day but it's usually the only time I get to hunt with some of my friends. I'll be going out the rest of the season but most of them will not. We ended the day with a nice visit with the landowner.

We got a few birds around Weld County even though they were already conditioned to late season tactics. The weather was too warm but GSP is in awesome shape and hunted everyday, all day long and we put on some miles in WIA. This boy has some wheels and worked like a champ even though he is only two years old; he still needs to get the retrieve thing down completely but I am confident he will this year. Perhaps some duck hunting will help???

Alot of hunters out there opening day that werent showing much common sense or courtesy towards other hunters, landowners or farmers which was a bit disappointing. I seen less hunters on Sunday, perhaps in church, hung over, football game, or there dogs wouldnt get in the vehicle.

The few hunters I seen on Sunday, there dogs were doing alot of boot licking. I wouldnt of seen the birds I did without my GSP or girlfriend doing their job on our hunting trip. Overall, it was as I expected and beats the long out of state drive to the pheasant capital.
