North of Aberdeen

There is a lake north of aberdeen, it's a WMA I believe, I hunted that 2 years ago, late season, and only saw about 10 pheasants. Great habitat.

It's just off the main highway going north out of Aberdeen I think maybe 20 miles north or something like that. Not very far off the main highway.

I tried to tame one when I was in my twenties during my misspent youth. Pretty much untamable.
Untamable?…Unmatable?…just verifying if there was a misspelling…wouldn’t know about either…but one Sunday morning, at the Holiday Inn in Mitchell, we were heading out to hunt and saw “Miss Montana” in the parking lot, she was apparently dancing at the Kongo…with nothing more than a few hoots from my guys, she flashed any and all who were looking her way…more than just our eyes were bedazzled by her natural resources! Or artificially enhanced resources, whichever…Johnny Cash may have felt differently about Sunday mornings had he experienced Miss Montana on a Sunday morning in South Dakota!

This lake is only three or four miles off the main highway, and it has great habitat but it was kind of snowed in when I hunted it I think I only saw six pheasants way back in there. Fortunately I was able to walk on the ice. That was my first solo hunting trip in South Dakota and it was a learning experience, I think I only shot one bird in 3 days of hunting. It took me a while to figure South Dakota out. Last year I got eight in 4 days. I hunted mostly public, no I hunted mostly private land just knocked on doors. I didn't pay anybody anything, but I did give away some steak and beer.
