Hello,
I am new to pheasant hunting but not to life or quail hunting. I am a fit 66 yrs young and I am going to try a solo hunt around Lamar, CO in Nov. Lost my good bird dog 1 1/2 yrs ago so am really going solo. I would like any positive advice on this. Thanks

You might be able to get yourself a bird dog at the pound or from a breed rescue orgainization that you can hunt this fall. Better than beating the brush with your own feet. Have fun whatever you do.

Welcome

I hope you will find this forum as entertaining and informative as I have. Get on board and ask away.

Again, welcome!

Welcome to the forum! There is a great GSP rescue org in Colorado...check them out. I'm just a couple of hours from Lamar...have dogs, will travel.

Welcome to Colorado. That is a hard part of the state for birds and without a dog might be even tougher. Don't know that I can offer much guidance on how to go about it.

Can I assume you are a weimaraner guy by your name?

thanks

Thank you all for the warm welcome and good advice. Sorry I'm not a weimereiner (sp?) guy. I'm a britt and gwp guy. Thanks again and I will try hard to enjoy my first hunt. If anyone is going to Kansas in Jan. with dogs I would be interested in tagging along.
