New Rescue (with Update)

Adopted a rescue Brittany today who was being fostered in Blair NE. Not sure of his age, probably 4 or 5. We're home now and he's getting used to a new place and a new master. Has a vague background as is often the case with rescues. I think he'll do fine afield based on his love of the sound of a shotgun earlier today and his instant fetch of a pheasant dummy.

UPDATE: Rocky the rescue has been with me for three weeks. We get along fine. My vet thinks he's only about two. He's learned my hand signals for sit, down, and stay. When it cools off we'll go afield and work on range, directional arm signals, and e-collar orientation.

He will be one lucky dog. Way to go! 👍

Good deal. The best hunting dog I personally have had was a rescue lab. I think she knew how lucky she was to get out of dog jail and land where she did. She was uncannily easy to train. Smarter than me most of the time.

I adopted my current Brittany from someone I know who for various reasons stopped hunting when the dog was about 15 months old. Kept him in a raised pen for most of the next 1.5yrs. My wife and i did a prison break and got him out. He felt bad about the dogs circumstances and so did we.

Great little dog.
