New Hobby

My uncle is a serious fly fishermen, ties his own flies, makes his own rods etc. I gave him a bunch of skinned pheasants, hackles from my game chickens, and wild turkey feathers last year and asked for only a few crappie jigs in return. He's showed me pics of all the trout he's caught on flies from my feathers and hasn't tied me a single jig.:mad: I'm holding out this year, no jigs no feathers!:D
 
I love how you guys spend my money :). I am excited about fishing; but I guarantee you, I can's sit still long enough to tie my shoes let alone a fly.
 
If you don't want to drop a lot of coin, look at some of the rod/reel/line combos. I bought a 5 piece 8 wt travel rod for bonefish, from Cabelas several years ago for $100. Trust me when I say I wasn't expecting much but it works great. I have used it on salmon since then. I would NOT buy an 8 wt for what you want to do, but the combos do save you some coin over buying rod, reel, line, case, etc.
