New gear?

Season is fast approaching and it's time for some new gear. I just ordered a pair of under armor's prey brush pants and their prey field coat (the PF version to send them a few bucks). I'm also thinking about a q5 vest but my vest is still in good shape so I don't really need one. What new gear are you all getting or thinking about?

This reminds me....I need to figure out what I'm wearing on my feet this year. Hunting or hiking boots. I have been pretty disappointed on the waterproof claims of my last few hunting boots.

Any more with my worn out body I just can't walk the fields, so it is deer and predators until January. After deer season ends I will do a little bird hunting. So I don't need any new gear and probably should sell some I really don't use much.

I would like to add an inline muzzleloader for deer. I have a percussion cap that I like, but have been borrowing an inline from my son the last few seasons and really like it, except this year he is using it.

I have already picked up some used bobcat live traps, so come November and December I will be running those. Even have a gallon of coyote pee ready for the trapping season.

Will stop at Cabelas in KC tomorrow on the way back from an appointment, so something might catch my eye although I really don't need anything other than shells for the upcoming seasons. My field coat does have iron-on patches on it and my strap vest has duct tape, staples, and iron-ons so I've got excuses if I need 'em. :p

UPDATE: Exited Cabelas with shells only. Probably a good thing I had a lunch date and was on a schedule and had no time to browse what with you big spenders talking about all the sharp stuff you're getting. ;)

When we see the best-dressed hunter afield this year we'll know it's you.

Haha! I have a problem. I'd be a model for Orvis or Filson's if they let me keep the gear.

I'm going to look like a greenhorn this fall. I need everything, boots, pants, shirts, vest.

Most important are some breathable pants; half the season seems like summer.

All of my brush pants are "breathable" seeing as how they all have custom barbed wire holes in the inner thigh/ crotch area. The UA pants are supposed to be a little lighter so I'm hoping they're a good early season option.

Just picked up the new 2016 Tenzing upland vest pack after hearing and reading positive feedback from others. I like the idea of the pack/vest/hydration pouch combination.

I've been running the Under armor pants for the last 2 seasons. There the best pants I've found for early season, Decent protection and way cooler. I've been very impressed with the durability vs. the light weight as well.

I am going to need a new pair of boots, my current pair has had it.

Really I don't need anything ...... But. I would sure like to see how well the Garmin Fenix 3 watch works with the Alpha.... Just what I need another several hundred dollar toy for playing with my dogs. :)

I forgot about my new Nikon d3300, now if I can figure out how to use it to get shots like this one a friend took of JP and I.

Nice photo!

I received my new gear today and my first impression of the UA pants are very good, if they prove to be tough enough to hold up these will be my new go to brush pants. My first impression of the jacket is good as well though Its much heavier than I thought it would be, I thought it would be more of a shell type jacket. It probably won't get used here a bunch as it just doesn't get cold out here, I only had two mornings below zero last year. Oh well I have a new reason to got to MT and/or SD this year so I can use it.:D The only complaint on the jacket is that it doesn't have a drawn string waist to keep the wind out.

A phillips screwdriver, some cordage and a few knots and all your problems are over. :D

New Truck, new lifts for the truck, a complete ensemble for hunting, probably new boots...now to shop for apres-hunt clothing so that the civilians in the area can admire you.

I'm thinking you are ready for season.

Have fun, be safe.

Hound,
I got a pair of brushpants from gamehide about 4 years ago. The model 12t. They have an outer covering that fits like a saddle in reverse in the crotch of the pants and goes about halfway up the back. Its sewn into the pants. No more barb wire holes from crossing fences. But you have to wear long underwear underneath, or on the hot days I wear sliding shorts underneath. If you dont wear something underneathits a serious gold-bond treatment when you get done that day! the only downfall.

To hell with function. How do they look? :D

Good thinking Kis.

I'm ready, the dogs are ready, the guns are ready. Now I'm waiting to see if I get my CA sagegrouse permit or not so I know how to plan my season opener.

They should get the job done. Good blaze patches on that jacket.
