New Fire W/PIC's

Great link Okie!!! Fire has moved to the Beetle Kill on the West and they are going to let her go!!! 200 foot flames coming of that dense stand and unpredictable with spoting!!! Homes are being lost, more then what they report I believe!! Came to work this morning only to see water truck gone!!! Well, it was up with another water truck putting out 2 cabins that were on fire !all night! They went through 1 road block and found no firefighters and their cabins on fire. got them both out, 1 was 50% burned! Glad they are just letting the West side go! That forrest will now have some new growth and no beetle kill!!! Sad part is that this beetle kill should of been dealt with years ago!! Not very populated that way!!!

Blue,

Sorry to hear of more personal property losses. It appears the stand will be made in Poudre Canyon and the Buckhorn road to the west. With spot fires running ahead of the main fire it will be a tuff battle. Mother Nature is in control right now, so let’s pray for some rain.

Okie, the North side has the Poudre and is a good barrier, though it has jumped over the Canyon in spots already! On the South side the Buckhorn could be a littl tougher, but winds are helping that! It could burn a long time to the West, heading up all the way to Crown Point and beyond!!! Dense timber up there that is 70% beetle kill, which it is in already, so it could be a while to the West!!!! Some damn nice Elk come from Crown point!! Rough country!!! Hope it gets out of the homes and just eats up the dead forrest so it can become healthy again!!! Maybe a shower Tomm. and lightning!!

Update: Fire on the N.W. is at the top of the ridge ready to head down to the Poudre River or jump Hwy 14! Flames were 100+ feet in the air! Front coming through winds likely to be eratic at best!

Jumped the Poudre! Evacs ordered for South Glacier View Sub Division! 52,000 acres now!! Growth has slown down! Mainly because East side has been stopped!

This fire wont be out in a month unless we get dumped on!!

Was wondering if they got any rain today to help the firefighters out?

No, Just wind from them, and 181 houses lost so far,

#1 Most Destructive fire in Colorado History! We are prime for 20 fires of this size or larger!! Millions of acres of Beetle kill just waiting! Building a fire line to the West, but it could take the fire 2 weeks to get there!!!

This 40 MPH wind is not good. It is blowing up all over again.

I see there is a new start--Springer-- west of Colorado Springs--2 to 4 acres at 1pm and now over 200--good luck --I think the west and really the sw are in for a really bad year :(

I understand all of this as I am in the middle of the forrest myself--- its just in SD and so far it is not to bad here

I always find it very disturbing to hear that some people prey on others during times like this fire. To hear that looting is a major concern right now, just shows just how low some humans can get. I hope that they prosecute to the fullest extent anyone caught stealing someone’s personal property from the victims of this fire.

Would be good to call out the National Guard to patrol.

I grew up in southern coastal Alabama, and we frequently had hurricanes. One hit us directly, trees down everywhere, no electricity for a month. The National Guard came in for security enforcement - dusk to dawn curfew. The NG shot a couple of looters the first night on patrol, no more problems after that.

Looks to me as if they set some backfires! Seeing smoke up high and to the West and is a good distance from where I have been seeing fire activity! Fire looks to be burning towards the East coming down the ridge line working towards the main fire! Have not heard anything yet, but my eyes are seeing what I am seeing!

Lost some more Homes today in Filing 12 of Glacier View, which means the fire is on the North side of the Poudre again and blowing up! 102 degrees high winds! Triple digits for the next few days! Red Feathers rd closed!:( Looks like they lost some homes in Hewlet Gulch as well!!! 6% humidity!!! Fire Storm!!!!!!!!!!

You guys can't catch a break--TWO new starts today one at Colorado Springs and one at Estes Park--both close to town and dangerous.:(

Yeah, Tough times!!! Lost 6 homes in the Estes one already! Cabin fire spread to a full blown wildfire! Pulling air support from the High Park fire to help quickly!!!

They are saying 21 homes now!! 9 fires now burning in Colorado!! Looks like they have the One in Estes under control for now!

Smoke is bad here this morning! 5:00 a.m. I went out to clean the AC screens and my eyes started hurting, smells like camping in my own house!!!

Please be safe out there, my CO friends. I love your state, and hope you guys and all your families can make a quick recovery from this devastation.

High Park Fire here has burned 83,000 acres and 250+ homes too date!!!! Can't even Fart here now!!!!!

Well there are 12 fires now, some are contained!! New one today started by lightning by Boulder!! Yesterday 38,000 acres burned out East by Last Chance in a matter of a couple hours!! Waldo Canyon in the Springs blew up today and is the #1 priorty fire in the nation! 100 + for 5 days now with wind! Denver hit 105 for the 2nd straight day and Denver has only hit 105 twice in history and never in June!! Broke records 5 days in a row!!

Bleu,

I watched the lighting just before lunch over boulder from my jobsite at I-25 and 144th we all commented on how if it didnt rain another fire would start. Sure enough around 2 we could see smoke rising. I can say for sure that our 2 digital weather stations in the construction office read 100+ since then end of last week through until today. I guess we will see what tomorrow brings.
