I have a 3 month old Brittany puppy. Just the last week or two he has been peein in the house a lot. It's not like he squats in one spot an pees, but its while he is moving around. There will be a trail of dribbles. You guys have any advice or ideas?

Also today I caught him in the backyard eating his poop. I have been feeding him 1 cup of food in the morning and 1 cup of food in the evening. Am I not feeding him enuff?

The Peeing while moving around is likely due to the young age and being excited.
House breaking is much easier once you learn the dogs pattern. Not too long after eating or drinking they will need to go. If you watch the pup it will give you cures to when they need to go.

I give praise when the go outside, and if they go in the house, its generally my fault.
Be sure to do a good job cleaning the mess up, oder is not your friend.

Crate training is a good idea, and can help the house breaking process.

Good luck,

Take him outside as often as possible and praise him when he pees outside. When he pees inside scold him ( gently he's a pup ) and then take him outside. He will eventually realize your displeasure when he does it inside and your approval when he does it outside. Crate training is a great thing also as it protects both the dog and your home. As for the eating poop, i wouldn't worry too much most dogs do it at some point. Yeah its really disgusting though.

Until the dog is fully house trained do not give him free run of the house even when you are home. And especially if you are home a lot or all the time. I never had a problem house training my dogs when I was working because they were crated while I/my wife were gone. When we came home at noon or the end of the day the first thing was to get them outside and make sure they went. Then a lot of praise. They learned fast. My last dog I got after I retired and I was home a lot. Thus she wasn't being crated much during the day. She was the most difficult dog I ever had to house break. Then it dawned on us that it was because she wasn't being crated like our previous dogs.

Temporary problems that will be outgrown. Good advice above. Be patient. Hunting wise, Brittanys need little training if you just let them develop IMO. Will need just some fine tuning - range, whoa, hand signals.

My Brittany ate his poop for around a year when he was a pup. All I would do is scold him if I saw him doing it, and he basically seemed to grow out of it for the most part. I had been told at the time that it had to do with nutrients in his poop as well potentially, and 2 cups of food seems like a lot for a puppy, so maybe change to a higher quality food. The higher quality/more digestible the food the less you have to feed and the less poop there is.

I have always fed my Brittanys Purina One which you can find anywhere so you will never have to give your dog strange food on a trip. It's 26% protein and 16% fat. My vets have always complimented the great health and muscularity of my Brits.
