For those heading out tomorrow good luck and most important be safe.

Don't forget to post up your results (good or bad) as we like to hear about it anyways. And don't forget the pics.....

I'm heading over towards springers neck of the woods. Talked to my contact last night and it doesn't sound that promising. We'll give it go and maybe things will be better than expected.

I was going to go but my heels hurt too bad. I don't know what is up. Can't walk. I am most likely going to the darn doc if it keeps up. I am hoping it is just bad cabelas shoes.:D Where are you near me. Maybe I can get out toward sundown for a quick one.

Best Opener Ever!!!

Took limit by noon and MISSED 3 ROOSTERS!!! I saw lots of birds in the fields today. A good mix of hens and roosters. Can't wait until tomorrow.:10sign:

Maybe you have Plantar Fasciitis. You could Google that and get some info on what you can try at home, but going to you doctor is a good idea.

Never heard of it, but it came and went, and now stays around. Just kinda came on. It sucks what ever it is. Well I googled what you said and I come up with, bursitis. It is the back of the heel. Gotta quit roofing, too old. Any way hope you all had a good hunt.

I hope everybody had a good opener. I will be giving a go towards the end of the month. Heading towards Redwood Falls area. Might swing by a WMA near Pipestone(maybe)

With Plantar generally you feel the pain in the back part of the arch to the heal. the very back of the heal and higher sounds more like Achilles tendinitis which is another nagging long healing nuisance. Unfortunately other than Wrapping the foot/ankle to immobilize then ice and rest there's not much else you can do. Might have the doc check it out to make sure what your dealing with.

Hunted saturday got two birds both young birds! It was nice just to be out and see my GSP work!

Congrats Custava.
If I remember right your GSP is pretty young? Nice to see the pups turn into dogs.

Shot 4 saturday in my group of 4 with just my dog. Missed a few others. Everybody in our group thought birds numbers are down. Walked one nice piece of private ground with the crops out and only kicked out about a dozen birds. Same piece of ground last couple of years would have seen 50-75. Late afternoon early evening was a little more encouraging, saw quite a few birds on the move. If it stays dry I would say most of the corn will be out by the end of the month.

I hunted one of my favorite late-season spots, but only kicked up a single hen. Combines were rolling, so I thought maybe that would keep the birds out of the corn, but I guess not. Dogs hit on several scent trails, but nothing materialized.

I also got to deal with an overzealous DNR officer who did everything short of a cavity search, so that was fun

I generally skip the opener, and will probably do so in the future. I guess I just needed to remind myself why I wait until November.

New to this site just found it last week. We took a road trip this weekend down to Pipestone area. 5 of us shot limits both days. All public land. Sunday we where done by 11am. Sure was nice to have almost all the crops out.

Went out by Evansville, Hoffman, and Kensington areas. Worked with a 4 year old yellow and a 1 1/2 year old yellow pointing. Kicked up 6 on Saturday night during 1 short walk. 5 Hens and 1 rooster which I wasn't ready for and looking the other way. Sunday, the young pointing lab did a great job and flushed 5 birds in different spots, all of which were hens. Up in Evansville area, not a whole lot of birds were shot.

I had a good day on Saturday with the two dogs. Saw lots of roosters some twice... my shooting wasn't very good right away but persistence pays off. I had my limit by 1 and headed home with two tired dogs and two dead birds.

I was concerned that I didn't see many hens. I know that roosters are what we are after but hens are what we need for next years crop.... Anybody else notice this? Maybe it was just by chance.

I'm really glad I got out to the field I had been scouting for a while at 7:30 because I definitely got the prime spot... the birds were right where I thought they would be. Congrats to everyone else who had the chance to get out this weekend and good luck to the rest of you for the remainder of the season.

We saw about as many hens as we did roosters. It seamed like a lot more rooserts than last year. But all the crops where still up for last years opener.
