It was nice to meet George yesterday. He is a great ambassador for all of us as upland hunters/enthusiasts. Elli is a wonderful little Brit and it is obvious the enjoyment that the two of them provide for one another.
While the cover still presents some challenges at Major Avenue due to the snow, a good day was had by all and the forecasted warm temperatures should make quick work of the snow albeit a slow melt is most desired.
Quickly, MUGS is another opportunity for gundog enthusiasts to demonstrate their dogs proficiency in the company of others sharing the same ideals. The emphasis is on manners and soundness around game. While speed is a component in the scoring, it is not the most sought attribute. Balanced, foot hunting companions perform quite well in our sport. We offer competition for both Flushing and Pointing breeds. A safe, WALKING pace is strictly enforced in all Divisions both in the Open and Amateur Event. You can compete in money (Open) or non-money (Amateur) competitions or both should you choose.
I will not make this an advertisement for MUGS but say that I believe in our format. As we wrap up a most challenging season (due to weather/snow cover) next weekend, we will once again re-evaluate our initiatives and look to enhance an already proven platform. There are many opportunities (especially in our area) to get out and test, trial, compete, prove your animal - MUGS is just one of them.
