Just passing the word I went to pick up dog food today "Loyall" and Nutrena is going to be no longer selling it. Here we go again looking for a new dog food. So does anyone recommend a food? Country Vet, Pro Plan,?

You are likely to get a lot of suggestions to this thread. You may have to do some research on your own or try feeding a couple good brands and see how your dogs do. I don't think you can go wrong with ProPlan. A lot of breeders and field trialers feed it. Personally I've been feeding NutriSouce for the past 3 years and been very happy. I like the ingredients and the analysis.

I don't have a "best food" suggestion. I have used several, some with good results, some not so good. Usually it is dependent on the dog and finding what works good for each one. My best experience has been with Taste of the Wild, but it was spendy and I had 1 dog who didn't handle it well. I have had nothing but good luck with Nutrisource, but that is getting spendy too. I am going with Country Vet Dog Fuel now. A little cheaper and still pretty good quality ingredients.

Thank you for your help also, I heard Country Vet for the price is prob the best food. Big names I would love to get my dog pro plan but 45 for a bag is alot.

check online, goggle dog food analysis, get what works for your dog and is affordable.....personally, i don't like grain in any dog food, i have a dog, not a cow...

I have a real problem with most of the companies that do the dog food analysis. For the most part they rate all the natural and organic foods at the top. A lot of good foods are rated quite low. That's why I don't put much syock in them.

Well poop...just move my dogs back over to Loyall about a year ago. I'll go back to PMI Exclusive. Worked well for me before. I'll check on the Country Vet, but not sure if anybody in Amarillo has it.

EDIT...just checked the Country Vet website...I'm in business...20 minutes away!

like anyone who offers their opinion on anything.......some are good, some not so good.

not that these guys are the holy grail of dog food analysis, but at least worth reading.....

That's not the Country Vet Dog Fuel though. The dog fuel does not have corn and a much better ingredient list with a better meat content towards the top of the list. I wouldn't feed my dogs the lower end Country Vet either. Most of the advisor websites are easy to figure out as far as what will be high and what will be low. A food with corn based grain will be low, rice and other grain will be in the middle and the grain free foods will be ranked the highest.

Check out DOCS CHOICE.... Great dog food.... Dont have to feed as much and they dont leave as much behind. I know a breeder that was feeding Country Vet and was having problems with his females getting bred.

corn and wheat, in the top 3 ingredients......

I feed mine grain free, with grain, and to be honest I think the grain free is false, my pointer did really well on Country Vet sportsman blend.
