Lookin' for a Bruiser!

Heres one taken outside of olathe last weekend. Note the two main beams on his right side. Not mine :-(

Nice deer mapdog, like how it has 3 main beams.

Im gonna be hunting out west, but not going till next wed to Sun - hoping to avoid the madhouse by waiting till the following week.

Was going to try a new tactic....tell me if Im crazy, but Ive got one of those nice Werner Collapsable ladders....was going to set that up in the back of my truck or a bit into a field as a portable lookout tower to glass in the CRP....Im sure if someone sees me they'll think Im crazy.

Just an idea that came to me last weekend.

Heck if it works then it's not crazy at all. Lol
Headed out bird hunting Thurs.- Sun. and taking rifle just in case I see one i can't let walk away.

Wow:coolpics: nice deer. Those are once in a life time oppertunitys for anyone. I have seen a few like that but never got a crack at one. They get pretty elusive at that age, and thats one good reason for the size. Congrats to the fortunate ones.

We'll be out both of the next two weekends and the 14 year old drew one of the weststar energy/kdwp youth hunts this weekend, hope she gets a shot at a doe or two and a buck would be a bunus. Hopefully this season we can bag a few does. Need some jerkey badd :). Lol

This morning on the way to work a guy in a van hit a nice 10 point. I pulled over to see if he was ok (he was) and saw the deer laying on the side of the road. I walked over to see if it was dead and when I got about 5 feet away it jumped up with a crazy look in it's eyes, stared at me and then ran across the road and jumped the fence and ran into the darkness! That will get your blood flowing at 6:30 AM!

Well, seen a few nice mature bucks early this morning around 7:15, but they never came in close enough to get a shot. Before I left this afternoon, I moved my blind about 100 yards to the North, so if they come through the same bottoms/draw tomorrow, I should get a shot (I'm really hoping they're bedding down in the woody draw). I plan on staying out the majority of the day tomorrow, with a quick break in the afternoon to snatch up some of the delicious tacos at Twister's in Bonner Springs.

So, did anyone else have any luck? Let's hear the stories! My buddy down in Parker took a 14-point this evening, and said it could have easily been 16, but had a few broken tines. He's supposed to be emailing me some pics, which I'll happily throw up when I get 'em.

Kansas Buck

Well since yall brought some pictures out i guess ill bring my buck from last year out. My father in law and I set up at 5:30 that morning and saw him feeding at 9:30am, he bedded down in the briars all day and would get up every hour or so to check things out. We waited for him all day and finally came out at 5:45. Took him at 330yds.

He looks pretty good sitting above my fire place!!!! :D

NE Kansas Buck 2010

Went out yesterday didn't see any bucks but my buddy shot this one yesterday evening N. of Topeka. I am heading out again tomorrow afternoon. Hunting one particular deer, but he is a dandy! I did find a cover of quail while walkin to my stand. Will go back and find them again after deer season. Still no roosters seen in NE kansas yet this season.

Here's the Buck and Doe combo my buddy shot Wednesday evening...

I got skunked again today :( Hunted this morning until the neighbor fired up the bobcat, went over and shot the breeze with him for a bit, got back in the blind early afternoon and hunted the evening away - nothing.

So, I walk back to the truck with all my gear, and what do I find? A whitetail about 20 yards away from my truck hightailing it into the woods... I didn't know whether to laugh or cry...
