If money is not a issue

Several will fill the bill in 2.75" 1.25oz or 13/8oz loads of #5's or 6's

P.S., I had to brighten things up with some pics. Been kinda dreary lately.

I like the Golden Pheasant in a 5 or a 6. I really like the Remington Nitro Express but golly that stuff is expensive. Right now my vest is a mixture of Wing Shock, Nitro Express, some Remington steel and there's probably some Winchester XX heavy trap in #9 left over from early season grouse.

But the ones I like best are the empties -- any brand... :D

I like Estate 2.75 1oz #6 or #5 in the High brass. This stuff patterns well out of my gun and burns clean. Rem Nitro is good but I hate cleaning my gun after shooting this stuff, doesn't burn clean. My 2 pennies

I've been a fan of Winchester super pheasant #4 out of my 12 ga. but this year I picked up some federal wing shok #4 and it seems to put 'em down well also.

Jmac: Interesting point about the Nitro. The Benelli never cycled sluggish until I began running those through... Hmmm. A good cleaning takes care of it but it's worth reviewing.

Thanks,

Daisybuck

I buy whatever is available at Walmart or the nearest store should I run short on a trip.

I say quit using a gun that carries so many shells. Best thing I EVER DID WAS GOING TO DOUBLES:D, I use all of those what ever quality shells are around usually 5s.

Fenway, I was thinking about an Ithica sxs in 12 ga. but compared to the autoloader that thing weighs a ton. Nice thing about double and single guns though, they'll eat just about anything -- even those mangled crimp reloads I had before I threw that demonic device out...

shoot O/U's almost exclusively..oh I have numerous auto's and pumps and they get their field time but not like my O/U's. Never had a O/U fail to fire and function yet. Cheap to Premium it's not picky. ah, but there's nothing better then carry that high buck special load from time to time. i save them for just the right day, when I want everything to be perfect. Other days I just throw in the pipes whatever is rolling around in the truck and let fly when flying dinner takes to the sky..LOL At the end of the year I have pockets full of every brand, load and color of shell that fits the gauge I'm carrying on that day.

Onpoint: One day I tried to sort them all out and box them up. I ended up with an incredible array of shells, from #9 shot to 00 Buck (varmint control) in about three different boxes, none of which contained more than 25 percent of their original brand.

Lord help me if I ever find ``the'' shell -- I will probably never find the hull and guess what I put in there.

Never works out Daisy, just let fly with whatever load you have and enjoy the fun days left in the season. I have shells rolling around in my trucks and cars year around..LOL

try the Fiocchi Golden Pheasant in #5.....all the rest of your shells will get older, every year.

Amen, a pretty easy decision. Can't beat the Golden Pheasant loads. A fer sure thing every time

Win.#6 and Win. #7 1/2 works good in 20 ga. single shot and so far they have been working in my sxs.Nailed a bunch of rabbit with my sxs so it's dropping them pretty good.

Using hevi shot 4's lately and it works good enough. Some of the places I hunt are non-tox only, plus I hate missing a chance at a jumped duck because a medium rare mallard breast is good eats. Prefer lead though and I'll use it more once ducks close. Just pattern more evenly. If I could use lead I'd buy a case of golden pheasant 4's and put a light modified in and go hunting. In either my 20 or 12.
