Anyone heading out next weekend, the last of the season? This bird team will lock, load, and move out Friday for the final weekend of the regular season which ends Monday, Jan. 31. The Happy Hunting Grounds have been great places to hunt this season, the best in many years. And just a reminder that we're in the last period of the fall turkey season which also ends on the 31st.

I'm leaving tomorrow and hunting until Sunday or Monday. If its as good as it has been will be eating some pheasant about friday with some friends to get rid of some birds. It looks like western Ks. will be really warm Thurs and Fri. then cooler Sat and Sun.

I will be there Thursday through Saturday for my final trip of the season. It has been right at a month since I was last in Kansas and I am very much looking forward to it.

just finished the weekend hunt and ready for the final week. What happened to the season....it just flew by this yr. Now it's time to pick up the trailer and haul it home, clean up the dog trailer do bearing, new tires and welded up some new cracks from them dirt rds.

By far, it's been one of my best yrs.

Headed out Thursday thru Monday. First time to S.W. Kansas. Can't wait. I saw where the weather looked like it was going to be warm also. Has the Dodge area had any precip to speak of lately? Good luck everyone.

Guys post lots of pictures, I will be nursing a broken leg and trying to keep my heart from shattering knowing another season is about over. The bright side of it is the crappie are biting. Only 10 months till opening weekend 2011.

Head out Friday and Saturday with a friend and his 2 teen boys. First time for them. Looking forward to introducing them to the fun of pheasant hunting!

driving up Thursday evening, will pull into Pratt around 11 p.m....will hunt Friday through Monday, just me and the dogs, best way to end the year, want to wear myself and the dogs out, as it is a long time until next season.....good luck to everyone going out....cooling into the 30's on Sunday and Monday, but no snow in forecast.

Leaving tomorrow to spend 5 days somewhere near the middle of the state. My buddy tells me that there are a number of coveys throwing their weight around along with some thuggish roosters on his land. He's begging me to come out and do some control work before the situation gets out of hand. Apparently, it's so desperate out there that the birds have killed all of the mountain lions.

I've been having an exceptional year on pheasants in the western 1/3 of the state but really look forward to giving the pup a break with some birds that hold well for a point. I loves me some quails!

Good luck to everyone.

Nice of you to step up to the plate. lol

Looks like we're putting the final plans together to drive out Friday after work and hunt most of the day Saturday. My 1 1/2 year old GSP is showing tons of promise and needs on some birds. First hunt since my old dog headed over the rainbow bridge a couple weeks ago though. :(

Sorry to hear that cheesy, he'll be watching you on this hunt! I'm heading up to Dodge City with a buddy to hunt Thursday through Sunday!

I'm sorry to hear that as well. As ES stated, he'll be guiding your pup from above.

I'm heading out to Garden City to participate in the Heartland Heroes Hunt. I think they have 15-17 soldiers participating this year...some from Ft Riley, some from Ft Carson and some Marines. They'll hunt native birds on Friday and do a controlled shooting area on Saturday.

Big dinner w/auction to raise funds for scholarships for the soldiers kids and then the Adam Craig Band (formerly known as Telluride) plays on Saturday nite.

If you're in the area stop by the Clarion Inn. The dinner and concert are both open to the public ($20-$25 admission).

Here is a link to their website: https://heartlandheroes.org. It's really awesome to see how this weekend impacts these soldiers.

I forgot to mention that on Friday nite at the dinner/auction, one of the auction items is a slot for 2 in the Saturday hunt with the soldiers. This is a really special hunt.

I have heard that one of the soldiers is wheelchair bound and another is an amputee. All of them recovering from some injury sustained while serving.
