Now South Dakota..the pheasant capital...forum topics..383...posts..3,379

Either you Kansan's are not doing so good of job hiding how good the hunting is there or you all just like to talk a lot..:laugh:

Drought has hit Kansas, not going to be worth hunting for pheasants, we're talking about the breakup of the Big 12 and deer hunting. :)

Kansas 2,000,000 more residents and 30,000 more resident pheasant hunters than South Dakota -- I would hope there are people talking on the Kansas board.

South Dakota---pheasants,grouse, deer, elk, Mt. lion, bighorn sheep, Mt. goat, antelope, waterfowl not just pheasants:)

Minnesota has as many deer hunters on opening day as South Dakota has people..almost.

We have Pheasants, Ruff grouse, Sharptail, Spruce Grouse, Wood Cock and a few more upland birds. Then waterfowl, bear, deer, moose and we don't have the number of forum topics or posts as Kansas... and the guy owns this site is from Minnesota...LOL

Kansans are yakkers I guess. Blah, blah, blah.

I tell my wife it's b/c we're not as "stuffy" as you Northerners. Pls don't get pissy, I'm just having fun w/ this. Many Kansans are just friendly folks.:)

I also happen to think a lot of the guys that hunt SD are hunting the same spots they've always hunted, year after year. Many of them don't need a site like this to help determine where they'll go or whether they should book w/ outfitters or hunt public (yes, there are exceptions). A guy has to change up areas from year to year to consistently find birds in KS. I use this site as a resource to keep up w/ the trends in the different areas of our fine state.

i do agree with that. For many years my trips were to southeast kansas 7- 8times to quail hunt. Then up to northeast kansas to pheasant hunt. Also took a couple short trips to Iowa. Would always round up a few roosters north of Perry Lake and on up to Valley Falls. Never had to travel more than 3-4 hrs, and could get into a pheasant or two in as little as an hour. Now pheasants for me are nw kansas or south dakota a couple times a year. Things do change down here a lot.
