I have the truck and dogs loaded and just waiting for my friend to get here to leave. We are staying in Ness city and will be hunting ground in Ness, Hodgeman, Lane and my farm in Finney county. I am hoping to average 6 a day, but I'm down to one dog for now so we will see. Also the guy going with me isn't a very good shot, but he loves to hunt. I have a 10 and 13 week pup that will be ready for next year. I hope to get out there 20 to 25 days between now and seasons end.

Miss Kitty

Here is a pic of my 10 week old Miss Kitty (Kit) pointing her first quail. It is a cripple I had just shot if you look close you can see it 4 feet in front of her. Her half brother Festus didn't get one pointed but almost had a covey before they flew.

Nice looking Gordon pup. I have had a couple of them over the years and really liked them.

Post some pics of them as they grow up. Love watching them develop

I have hunted Gordons for 25 years. They have excellent personalities, great noses, all have been natural backers and retrievers, love the water and the ones I hunt are all pointing wild birds before they are 12 weeks old. I have had a couple I would put against any other dog hunting pheasants. Kit wasn't sight pointing that bird she was directly down wind of it. She almost pointed a single right after that but it flushed before she got solid. I hope to shoot a limit that the pups point before the end of quail season and then my goal is to live behind them next season. Well my buddy is here need to load the older dog and get headed out.

good lookin pup. I know a guy who breeds Gordon's in MO. He trained my first britt for me. The place is Melrose Kennels. The guy who owns it is a heck of a guy. Good luck finding them. If you do...KICK "EM UP!

The fact that you named your pups Miss Kitty and Festus just made you the coolest guy on UPH! seriously best dog name of the year.

Fantastic mate. I am fur sure eatn my heart out. Great day, and good luck for many more. I loved huntn around Ness last couple years but was told not to go there this year LOL. Dave

You sure did have a good day.

We hunted a 1/2 day in some WIHA, and did not have a rooster within 75 yards of a gun, and most flushed about 100-150 yards out. Got several hens pointed, and a pair of Prairie Chickens, but didn't fire a shot today.

Congrates

Nice day and more than nice Gordon Pup!!! Please tell us where Kitty came from! She's the kind of Kitty I'd let in the house:) I used to have Show Me and Intraset Gordons. Sure like seeing them in the field! One of the best bird dogs I've seen was an Intraset Gordon named Ruger. Radar for a nose!

I just got back. Two of us killed 19 in 3 days. We also shot 15 quail. We shot them all in Ness County except for 8 that we shot on my farm in Finney. We saw birds every place we hunted, and on a couple places there were a lot. Of the 19 birds only around a half dozen were young birds the rest were all old. Most of the birds were in wheat stubble, we shot some in Crp and a few in some windbreaks. Im going back mid week after the snow. The Gordons I hunt are Springset and I get them from Sorbys. I have also hunted behind Belmors, and Show Me.

My first Gordon was a Springset. She was maybe the best pheasant dog I have ever hunted over. She had a long range nose, and knew how to handle runners.
