I'm looking for any kind of hunting report from Huron or the surrounding areas. Would love to know how much snow cover is in the area and if anyone is still finding birds. We will be making our second trip out there this year and hoping to do better than the first. Our first trip was a lot of learning so i think we will be okay. THX

Snow is not too bad and may get a little more shrinkage next couple of days. The ditch and north, west sides of cover hold snow but you can avoid or plow thru. The birds bunched up in the cold and are concentrated. Sometimes they bust up again in nice weather. Seemed like they move earlier on the nice days---around 3PM.

I was about 50 miles east of Huron a couple weeks ago for the deer opener, and actually saw more birds than deer. A lot of the "older" guys back there don't seem to hunt deer much anymore, and fewer yet hunt pheasants. Because of the warm temps, and no deer moving, I had to go in after them in the heaviest cover. In fact, I was flushing birds out of almost every slough entered, which was surprising.
The weather was unseasonably warm, and on Nov. 23rd was melting rapidly. In fact, I had to wind up the deer hunt early due to muddy fields. Not sure if they have had any snow since then.

Just back from Huron area. snow minimal and more should go the next few days. Once again due to the blow the north and west sides are drifted and it is a pain for an old guy like me with bad knees to negotiate. Birds are there but bunched so keep looking. 9 guys, 3 days 67 birds. We worked hard and missed way too many Sat. Everyone had the same desease.

Not bad buck. That's roughtly 7+ birds per guy average. :thumbsup:
I hear ya about the bad knees. Had both of mine replaced 10 years ago and now i need the left one re-done the 23rd of this month.
