just got back. man there were too many birds to county.. only hunted with 3 guys. we got our limit in 2 hours even late into the season, they are still out there. one shelterbelt we have, had tons of rooster pouring out. shots rang out after the next. it was a constant shooting and we had 2 birds left to get to end our day. about mile away was the rice patty where we got 2 more birds, as soon as we stepped out of the truck, they flew and shots rang out and done.
the bird numbers are good even late in the season its still good.

my pup isnt fully trained on gun nor pheasants so i didnt even use a dog this past weekend. got our limit without dogs. however we lost one rooster after it was shot down and ran on foot.
Sophia is 4 months old.. isnt ready but will be next year. she got to taste her first pheasant this year. she didnt EAT it but she got to sniff it and pulled some feathers off but other than that, she'll be ready next year.
heading down to Winner myself this weekend for the deer opener, but going to pheasant hunt friday and during the middle of the days as well. I hunted there opening weekend and it was crazy how many birds there were.
Will post a report on it when I get back Monday, but good to hear the birds are still everywhere.
