How fast conditions change.

Just got 1.1" and it is still coming. I am thinking our pheasants will evolve into ducks if this keeps coming!
***Edit. 1.3" last evening, this is crazy. Should be dry tonight, need to get mowing grass!

1.3" when I checked the gauge at about 6:15 this morning and it was still raining.

**End-up with 1.5"

Another almost .5" Friday and Sat morning.

All this rain is not the normal over the past 5 years. I watered the garden twice early on in a dry 3 week period. Since then, the top is usually moist. The sweet corn did good, gave away the last 12 dozen or so ears this morning.

If you look at the drought monitor, there is almost no drought east of the Rockies.

All of Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin has none except for the very far northwest corner of MN near the Canadian border.

Pretty astonishing.

Could be record yields this fall when harvest occurs.

Heat and wind causing it to dry out quickly here at the Ponderosa. Pastures are losing their unusual green color and heading for a more normal August color.

Thanks for the pics! After all your bird-eating seed troubles, it looks like you have a nice stand filling out. That last pic with the switchgrass, the milo, and the windbreak is a thing of beauty.

Thanks guys. That farm is my happy place. With amount of rain we have received, the cover is even thicker & taller than normal. The gator had a time pushing through in places as I drove thru to check on the food plots. I flushed just one hen yesterday, goes to show they would rather run than fly in good cover. Great for pheasants, but it might be even more challenging to hunt this fall....my dog will have his work cut-out for him.
