How’s your hearing????

I’ve been hunting mostly with older guys for the past 30 years…some younger, not many…lots my age…but mostly older…10, 20, 30 years…I’ve seen hundreds of close flushes over the decades that go totally unnoticed…my hearing is pretty good, and I attribute that to birds in the bag big time! I’d take great hearing over great vision if it came down to it…

I second the importance of hearing, with the thickness of cover this year where I hunt, hearing is even more important to me. As much to know where my dogs are/went as it is for hearing flushes. If anyone has any recommendations for wind resistant active hearing protection I'm interested.

I wear $25 ear plugs that orvis used to sell…they’re made by a company that still makes them and sells them for about $20…available through many online retailers…probably not the best, but I won’t step in the field without them…I can hear grass moving, but they have 33 whatever u call it in protection…

Check out safariland at Cabela’s for $25.,,these may not be the type you’re looking for…but I never wore any until 3-4 years go…huge step!!!! Major improvement !!

No shade on you @BB but they block the muzzle blast and can still hear ambient sound? I struggle to believe that those passive(non-electronic) can block the dangerous sound and still pass through the "smaller" sounds.

My ears rang for 6+ months after the ‘21/22 season…not kidding! Started using these, no issues….are there better ones out there??? Most certainly. When I shoot clays, I wear the big ear protection deal…but for my upland hunting, which commonly can be 10, 15, 20 shots, sometimes more on group hunts, these are great!!!

They claim 33 Db of protection, not sure how that compares with the $500 or $1000 models???
