Home Invasion Safety: What shotgun do you prefer?

While stationed in Germany, a fellow soldier failed to file paperwork with the ATF and could not bring back a shotgun he had purchased overseas. I paid him $75 for a brand new mossberg 500 with pistol grips, the original wood, and a couple of hundred Rotweil 3 inch number 5 shot shells. The barrel is only around 18-20 inches long and is short enough overall to handle in a hallway. I keep it in the bedroom, just in case, but have never fired it.

Model 37 Ithaca Police riot shotgun or Benelli M3 pump/auto convertable.

your both wong AA12, One hundred round Auto, not semi, full on Auto. Pull the trigger and spread lead. Double oo Buck, Yes sir.

If I was shooting someone, my Rem 1100 would be my choice.
But I have a Winchester 1200 pump that I can't shoot well, it weighs a ton, that I could really club someone with. ;)

The only thing I have worth stealing in my house is my shotgun. so I am not sure I would want to get it out for the robber and make his job easier

Hard for him to steal it when it's spraying "Hot" lead in his direction.

I own a 870 express 12 ga. Laser designator, 6 in the mag, shell holder on stock for 3 more rounds, 20" bbl., cylinder choke.

Want the reliability of the pump gun & still get the multi shot option.
Loaded with 3" slugs & 00 Buck alternating in order.

Is also fairly heavy

That should do the trick! Only thing I would do different is load all 00 buck and do away with the slugs.

And yes I prefer either an 870 or a 500 Mossberg. Both reliable beyond words.

I keep a 500 Mossberg full stock 20 inch cylinder barrel Holds 7 rounds in tube 1 in chamber All 8 rounds 00 buck Have a hundred lumen flashlight mounted to tube Where the flashlight goes so does the muzzle

It is sacreligious in Canada to even THINK about such things - LOL, but... I never let that stop me! :D

I have a truck gun that would do just fine I think. It's a 20" barrel Sabatti OU with would be short enough to handle easily in close quarters, absolutely simple and foolproof action that could be worked in a panic even with trembling fingers. I *MIGHT* (hypothetically, if big brother is reading this!) have a couple of round of #6 bird shot tucked away in a convenient place that would make a HELLUVA mess at such close ranges without going through the wall and hitting anything other than the intended target. It's not a particularly bad-ass gun, but it has the added advantage of having other, infinitely more realistic and likely uses, like dropping it into a backpack with an orange vest and cap so that I can walk across the golf-course without freaking anyone out. Then, when I get in the woods on the far side of the back-nine, I can assemble it and throw the vest on! PrestO-changO - I go from some hippy going for a walk in the woods, to a stone-cold grouse-killer! lol!

That's what they taught us in our conceal carry class. A good flashlight is as important as the gun you choose to protect yourself with. Identify your target. These laser sights with no flashlight are not a good idea. You present great risk of shooting a love one or non threatening person by using the laser sight alone without a flashlight to identify just who the intruder is.

I would be worried about both of those loads going through walls. I think that an ounce or so of 4 or 5 shot within the confines of my house would do the job.

The first one I get my hands on.

At bedroom distances whatever shotgun you get your hands on will work. All that tactical junk is just mall Ninja foolishness. I see that door breaching muzzle brakes are the hot item. Sure gonna need that alot.

My coon and coyote rigged up 870 supermag complete with a light and pressure switch would be nice but i'd likely grab my xdm .45 in a half sleep, full drunk, cluster f in the middle of the night. It holds 14 rounds so I guess if you can't shoot straight shoot often!

A article on front page Star/Trib. A guy from Little Falls shot 2 burglars inside His house, killed them both. He is in jail, charged with 2nd degree murder.
What do You bet? He will get 25 years.
