Hello From Billings!

Just wanted to say hi and I'm glad I found the forum. ( I put this same intro in the MT forum too) I spent a fair bit of time bird hunting with my dad when I was a little kid, shot a lot of dove, band-tailed pigeons, mountain grouse and a "few" pheasant and quail in Washington. Then he got into hounds and we shifted to bears and cats!

Anyhow, after a long, long break, I am back at it. Last winter I picked up a little springer pup from a rancher in Forsyth and this fall he proved to be well worth it. I couldn't find any "good" spots to pheasant hunt this fall, but we still knocked down and retrieved a few birds and right towards the end of the season he basically went batty over birds... so I am really looking forward to next season.

This is Gunner with his first pheasant ever....(I guess I'll see if I know how to post a pic???)

Welcome to the site, great looking pup you have there.:10sign:

Welcome! Thanks for sharing your story! For me personally it doesn't get any better than chasing after them ring necks with a beautiful springer!

Gunner is good looking dog!

That dog is a brute! Bring him down here to SD next year and we'll use him for his intended purpose.

Billings? My old stomping grounds in my late teens. Welcome to UPH

Thanks all..

He is a dang good sized springer... bigger than either his mom or dad there at 10 month! He seemed to level off there though. Strong and a hard worker and crazy for birds! WooHoo!

Spaniels may have their faults(I'm still not sure what they would be)but lack of effort will never be one of them.

Welcome, Sapphire. Thanks for your interesting post and great pic of your Springer. Are you by chance a female hunter? It doesn't matter, but I (a male) for one in this forum encourage female hunters to join the forum and share your hunting experiences and photos. There are female hunters who are UPF members and post.

Welcome to UPH! You're gonna have a blast on here because they guys and gals are great. You'll fit right in. Great picture of Gunner....cool!

Brit... not sure where or how I came off sounding so feminine, but I have accepted that I've been in touch with my feminine side!! nah... just a guy though. ;0)

ANyhow, yeah...anything this pup does is full throttle. The other day I took my cougar mount out of a store room to finally hang up in a family room I got finished. He spent a good 5 minutes baying non-stop at the thing. I grew up hound hunting for bears and lions and this pup would have stood with any of the hounds I was around baying this lion!!

:0)
