Heat

Chicks can’t regulate their body temps for about 2 weeks…extreme heat can kill young chicks…not too worried about September temps…I was in ND about 12 days in mid Sept…no issue with heat there as far as birds being harmed…other than by #6 lead…highs of 104+ in the summer concern me

Montana was scorched the whole month of September.

There's this one. Guy, drives a suburban, pulls a dog trailer that holds like 10 dogs, so I'm putting a big thumbs down on him. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the next few days.

That heat kept me out of the Grouse woods. I hunted opening weekend in shorts at times. Skipped two more hot weekends and finally hunting good temps this weekend.
I haven't been out much, I have seen some pheasant, and I saw some geese, but not very many grouse. It's just been so blazing hot. It's been unbelievably hot.

Last week we had very hot dry conditions. Numerous combine fires. Had one myself, burnt up bout an acre of beans and part of my leg. FD put it out just in time. Big thanks to them. Finally got much needed rain yesterday, over 3” in parts.

I'm sitting out our resident pheasant season opener this weekend due to high 70's-80 temps. Don't think running a 9 year-old lab in that heat is too smart... Several years ago, the regular opener had high temps in the 70's, and several dogs went to the Rainbow Bridge because of heat exhaustion.
