Headed to Farm Tomorrow in SD

SDJIM, antelope in Charles Mix County??? Really? Din't know there was any east river but sometimes in spring the critters do wierd things.

Today I mowed somemore koshia in prep for Crp planting and also hooked up another mower to a second tractor. Have a food plot right next to building I went in to test it out and decided it was dry enough to mow the whole thing and quite a few pheasants came out of that plot and also the koshi strips so I am far more encouraged by the carryover on the farm this spring than last spring.

Headed for home tomorrow. Boo Hoo.....

Oh yeah, met with fire chief and FSA and got the burn plans in place. All we need now is a little drying time and a match.

I was just thinking the same thing. Antelope in Charles Mix County? Are you sure???

Charles Mix borders the Missouri and you do see mulies so maybe not that crazy if near the river????

I just got back from the farm and man the skies we vacant at the end of week compared to early in the week. Never saw so many ducks, snows and canadians ever before. Was an honor to witness the migration spectacle.

A far as pheasants go I was encouraged by the number of birds I saw winter over on the farm after working a few more habitat plots and I really didn't get around to many because the soil conditions were very wet and it is early.

I am confident we will be staged for a good hatch and in much better shape than last spring.

Guess I need to clear up the antelope thing--they were about 30 miles WEST of the river--I traveled from far western SD to get to Platte and was talking about the whole trip

It rained here last night complete with thunder and was windy as heck yesterday and will be today also.

Still seeing plenty of pheasant around:D

There are some Antelope east of the river but further north. There are some on the Crow Creek Rez north of Chamberlain and from there north. Used to be some in Lyman CO. around the Iona area. about 30 nw of the Platte Winner bridge.

Had a change of weather here in Platte and the waterfowl have been pouring into the area again, mostly ducks by the thousands and some geese and even a big flock of Cranes. The roosters have started crowing early and late in the day.

No warm up for about a week so not much will change here. Guess I will have to go home and come back later.

Got about 35 acres lined up for food plots this year, had one land owner let us hunt in a food plot last year and we offered to plant it for him this year--he thought it was a great idea so that added 5 acres to the mix.
