got bit hard

well after all the new equipment pastor john bought, the great time he had, mostly missing pheasants in n. w. kansas, he went and did it. just bought a new puppy and with his usual great taste, he bought a gsp, god bless him. it is coming out of south east kansas and a pedigree to die for and hunting dogs to boot. does mean something, at least the chances go up. love puppies, might even be able to love some other kind if i had too. training starts the last week of march, can't wait too long as the pup will be about 8 weeks then, time to do it as pheasant season will be only, only, 8 mo. away. n. w. kansas, if you can believe the forecasters is heading for some moisture next week-end, going to teach john how to pray for rain.

Way to bring another new guy into the ranks. Now you need to hit him up for kids and grandkids you and he can introduce behind his new dog next season:cheers:

puppy

the pup is coming out of mostly?? the guy as far as i know has been breeding some gsp, he competes a great deal in fact his male i presume cause he has black in him is reg. is the fdsb and has six major wins or ch. after his name. the guy does some guiding as well. the pedigree includes dogs like rawhide's clown and one of his kids, blazer, total i believe there are 7 f. ch. of which 2 are nationals. the guy had the pups priced at $600 which to me is kinda cheap, black bothers some like the akc for example but john wants a hunting dog so besides a wonderful bunch of parents, the breeder is running the hell out of the dogs, and that is exactly what someone wanting a nice dog should look for. while i am talking about gsp, it should be the goal of everyone looking for a hunting dog. rawhide's clown by the way, besides being dead is in the bird dog hall of fame, no small feat. the breeder is on the internet and believe he is in something like pretty prairie kansas, should be able to find him. the pastor is pleased and i can hardly wait to go get him with john and put him to work. anyway, that's all i think i know, during our, my, search we saw pups from $ 350 up to $1200 and not a significant sire in the bunch. this cured his itch i think

cheers

Black bothers the AKC, but not the Germans! Black does not bother the French Brittanys either but makes them unregisterable here.

Pretty Prairie is 20 miles from me. Haven't heard of the breeder I guess. Course I'm one of those people that like a dog with a tail of full stature. You got him hooked, you may have to steer this tornado until the dust settles. Congratulations, You've got yourself a bird crazy buddy!

The black shorthair is the rage right now. Throws me everytime I see one. I really wish the solid liver shorthair would make a comeback.

Pastor John sounds like He has His retirement figured out.
How about getting Pastor John registered in UPH.

black dogs

several years ago just east of denver, a hunting preserve, breeder etc went to black dogs, gsp. and bred a bunch of them, mostly cause some idiots out there would pay twice the price for a black dog as for a real one. kinda like the guys that needed a chocolate lab when they brought twice the price and surely didn't get twice the dog, in fact maybe just went the other way. the problem with those blacks was they really had little to no breeding, he was just selling color. i have had two liver gsp in my life and for awhile i preferred that color, ignorance really but liked it just he same. about 27 % of gsp are liver colored. i always got a chuckle out of people asking my why i cut the tail off my lab, told them that it wagged too much and kept cutting in on the corner of my doorway in the kitchen and then spattered blood all over the walls. that by the way used to happen when i had labs, i was kinda slow figuring out why the blood was on the wall and where it was coming from

Could you take Paster John down to the Ponderosa in Dodge City and pray for rain please? Our good friend Mr. Byrd lost his touch lately. :)
