Good .22LR pistol for plinking

I would like to get a .22 to do some plinking with, and something that my wife would enjoy shooting some.

I was looking at a Ruger MKIII or the 22/45, any opinions or other suggestions?

I have three .22 handguns: a Burgo 8-shot revolver, a Single Six convertible revolver .22 mag and .22lr with 6.5 in barrel, and a Browning Buckmark pistol.

Buckmark is most accurate in my hand. So far, it has been flawless in function.

Single Six is the second I've had, but the first, with the 5 in barrel was not accurate in my hand. The longer barrel, or the revolver itself, made me a better shot.

Burgo is a German made, locally branded, pre-Saturday night special ban with ?zinc added to frame metal, but with steel barrel and cylinder. Three inch barrel works fine for what I use it for. It is more portable for casual carrying around the property.

Obviously don't need another, but my eye has been caught by the Taurus .22 PLY pocket pistol. One of those "get OFF of me" pistols. Cute. :)

Have fun looking.

I have S&W22A and a Ruger MkII 22 both are tons of fun! I recommend "Do all Outdoor" shooting targets are a kick a-- lot of fun, both the ground targets and the swingers. Get the ones that you can shoot with 9mm to 30-06 they last a long time. My wife got me for Christmas , an auto Trap thrower ,it is the greatest! we burned up a lot of shells and had a great time. Thanks Dear Dear!!!

I have a Ruger MKIII Target and it is the best pistol I have ever owned--super accurate, I would highly recommend a MKIII to anyone.

I have a MKlll. If I got a new one I think I would get the MKlll hunter, sweet little gun.

Buckmark It's hard to beat in .22LR. Kimber conversion kits only thing I know that will give the browning a run for the money. I have two buckmarks and people are always trying to buy them off me. They are great guns for plinking. I have taken my share or Roger Rabbits with them too.

I have the 9 shot Taurus revolver (gift). It is a reliable and accurate gun. But if I was going to buy one myself I would get a buckmark or mark III. I really like those guns especially the longer barreled ones for plinking, shooting snakes, turtles etc.

22 pistol

I have a Buckmark which my wife also shoots. I feel the Ruger pistols are excellent. The Ruger does not break down for cleaning as easily as the Buckmark. Which ever your choice obtain several extra magazines and a speed loader. The loader makes it more comfortable for my wife to load the mags.

I'll second the Buckmark. A fantastic gun, super reliable and very accurate. It's design is much like the famed High Standard and Colt Woodsman. I like the design much better then the Ruger. The Ruger has such a restricted ejection port area. Making it hard to clean and it also seems to restrict a lot of the crud from being spent out into the air. Kind of holds the crud in to the action, making them a dirty shooting gun. The Ruger is still a great gun, just not as good when shot a lot and not cleaned often.

Browning or Ruger; I have had several of both over the years. Both are fine designs, however, I prefer the Browning for ease of cleaning and ergonomics.

I have had one of the Ruger 22/45's for several years. I really like it. Don't know how to compare it to any other, but its a fun gun and the grip angle mimicking the 1911 is a nice touch.

Well, I had to fly out of KCI yesterday for work. Stopped by Cabelas, and took a look to see if they had any guns left.

They had a Ruger MkIII 22/45, so I put it on layaway until I get back.
Think I am going to like it a lot.

Been looking for a while, and finally found something I liked, now all I need to find is some ammo......
