This will be my son and I first time hunting up here in this area. I see a lot of potential near lovewell lake but out of all the stuff I could forget I forgot my wiha book. Luckely I will be hunting on some private land in the morning. And then I will try to find a wiha book to try some public land.

go to the Kansas game and fish site and you can down load the WIA maps.you can highlight the area you want and print just that area if you do not want the whole pamphlet. I know only because I did just that last night.
not a good day.
Spent all morning on private and public near the lake and saw only one rooster and it was taunting me by crossing the road right in front of me and bunkered down in the drainage ditch daring me to come get it. I wanted so badly to grab my gun and flush that bird and shoot it but that would of gotten me into trouble. So decided with my son to let's go home and on our way home stop at wiha that is near highway 81 and hunt them up. One of the wiha we found within 10 minutes of walking my son stepped on a covey of quail and then my dog picked up the singles from the covey. Then went to another private field my dog got birdie but the rooster took off running and my dog chased it and flushed it way out of range so the whole trip we got skunked on roosters. But I got to spend time with my boy and dog.
