I agree with you guys 100%. But for the avg pheasant hunter a box of 35 dollar shells is the least expensive purchase. Think of the cost, of a dog with dog food, vet bills, ect…
Then a license and stamp, vests, boots, shotguns. Most of us are probably not shooting 300 dollar shotguns to save money.
I would even say the avg pheasant hunter shoots less than 1 box of shells at pheasants a year. That 1 or 2 shots you take per pheasant depending on how bad of a shot you are is probably the cheapest part.
For example the Boss bismuth shells are 35 per box of 20. You order direct from the manufacturer so you don’t have to shelf surf your local sporting goods stores. Where I hunt we have areas where you have to shoot non tox so if I’m using boss bismuth I’m covered, and for the other areas I can still feel confident the bismuth will get the job done negating the requirements for carrying both lead and steel to me.
