Full Blaze Orange Reminders

Total guess here...

It probably depends on the person what they are going to do if you are wearing a vest with a lot of brown/gray. But if they want to confirm it, I am guessing they would use a tape measure. If it is camo, that would be tougher. But for most vests that have square sections of non-orange, probably not that hard.
Wouldn’t that be something to witness. I bet that would take some serious amount of time measuring every square inch of something camo orange.

I should've read this thread a few days ago myself. I had a run in with DNR yesterday due to lack of orange. I bought a new final rise camo vest for this year and was talking to my friend driving out west about how I was going to have to remember to wear orange during deer season now. Out hunting with just my orange hat and here they came. I totally whiffed on youth season. I'll have an orange shirt on under that vest while bird hunting from now on in MN no matter when. They couldn't have been nicer, gave me a verbal warning. Let me throw on some orange and continue hunting. I will say this, neither of us were even close to 50% covered in orange even after I added a shirt and they didn't care. My buddy's vest just has an orange shooting pad on the shoulder and about a 5 inch wide strip across the back of his shoulders. I'd say maybe 20% at best. Take it as you will. Stay safe!

I think wearing an orange shit under the vest will give you some bonus points with the officers, even if the vest isn't 100% regulation.

But now that you have a warning, they might not let the vest pass next time if it's the same officer and they remember you.

In a risk/benefit analysis, wearing both a vest and hat of a high visibility color makes a great deal of sense, even when not required by law.
Try to explain that to Goose! 😁

My buddy's truck got peppered on Saturday with a half dozen bbs, maybe it needs an orange paint job. Somebody must have chased one in the ditch by the parking lot while we were on the far other end of the wma.

Based on the point of this thread, I'd like to point out how stupid it is there's so many special seasons to hunt deer here.

As a deer hunter myself, I understand the point. It's about hunter recruitment and revenue, and deer hunting is king. But these early special youth and antlerless seasons are dumb. Early teal season, early youth waterfowl season, early antlerless deer season, early youth deer season, late CWD season. It's become nothing but a headache. When I wanted to hunt as a youth, I went on opener like everyone else.

Just my opinion of course. Stop catering to one demographic at the expense of everyone else.

I shot my own truck once. Walked in about 100 yards and my wife says she heard a cackle. We did a loop over there and walked into thick cover and he flushed. Didn't even think about how close we were to the truck. It was probably about 80 yards if I had to guess. It was a thick area and you couldn't see the vehicle, so it wasn't on my mind. I made a joke about being an idiot and shooting toward the truck, but didn't think anything of it. Sure as shit, I had two new tiny chips in my windshield. If my wife hadn't been there I woulda blamed Goose's cousin.

Also at that same spot, we flushed a staggered double. I missed three first one, I yelled rooster because my buddy wasn't looking and he got that bird. A few seconds later we hear a boom just over the hill, very close! We go to find the bird, and then truth the screen of giant ragweed comes, "I'm over here." !!! A guy had been hunting our way on the other side. Whew! We talked to him and turned to hunt opposite directions.

Hills should be illegal.
