friends and their wives

I got a buddy that has been begging me to take him deer hunting for years, so I finally decide to take him, he cancels on me the day before to go Christmas shopping.....it was the second week of November!!!!! Found out about a month later from "her" that she told him to stay and he wasn't allowed to go....they weren't even married at the time! Never again will he get an invite. I don't know how the heck guys like that do it! She whines non-stop and calls him every 5min when we go on a 3 hour dove hunt! Are you kidding me?!?! I found a girl that on 2 separate hunting trips I was late getting off work, came home and found my bags packed in the garage ready to go, complete with a pie or 2 to take! She was 18 at the time. We are engaged now (I locked that one up!) and she loves that I hunt. Her birthday is in May, she said she didn't want to stand by herself at the alter on our wedding day so we planned a June wedding. Only time she calls me when I'm on my trips is to tell me to send some of the pics to her so she can have them framed by the time I get home. Can't stand women like my "buddy" have, if I had one like that they'd find her in one of the fields I hunt! LOL!

mine doesn't care that i hunt she just thinks i should spend a little time at home on the weekends in those 3 months since we both work during the week and her on the weekends sometimes

I have a real issue with guys who say..MY WIFE LET ME. She let me buy this, she let me go hunting, she let me come visit you.

Like she somehow owns him

I have had friends though the years like this. 99% of the time, every time we were going to go fishing, hunting, shooting..anything. They had to bargain with the ol lady....if he/they were allowed to go at all. The wife had total control over his/their every action. He/they couldn't take a whiz without her saying it's alright. Then when they were with you. The cell phone would ring every 20Min wondering when they were coming home. It would turn from wondering to demanding his return after a short time. When you would drop them off. You could see the scowl on his wife's face and knew hell was coming his way. She could kill with just her look. If you stayed for a little while. She would make it a living hell.

Whats with these control freak women?

You ever have to deal with these types. Hopefully you weren't or aren't married to one yourself.

Man and women should respect one another and have equal share in their enjoyment time. Not one "Letting" the other..like it's somehow a gift you were allowed to enjoy yourself/buy something and then made to pay for their allowing you.

Onpoint

First wife was like that, she is gone now. Current wife 11 years now lets me do what I want. Stayed single 14 years after that first one. It was fun;):D:cheers:

I hunt quite a bit and my wife usually has no problem. 3-4 trips per year plus alot on the weekends. But I do compromise and work around her schedule or other family plans that are important to her. It all works out.

One of my good friends always comments on how his girl always lets him go hunting. He has a small munsterlander :D

My wife does not mind my hunting habits. But she loves to fish, in an effort to get her out of the house and enjoy the outdoors. I talked her into buying a Lake Cabin near Aitken, MN. It was on Ripple lake. We had that cabin for 9 years. I had to sell it for I got promoted and had to move here to Washington. To make this story short the name of the cabin was,"Mom's Happy Home." When I retired 20 some years ago. We wished we still had that cabin...........Bob

Just like your dog, gun, boat, truck, etc. Choose carefully! After the test drive!:D

Y'all sound like the guy a group of us were impromptu golfing with one day: After playing 9 holes on a beautiful day, everybody was havin such a good time we all said, "Hey, wanna go ahead & play 18". Several guys immediately said, "Lemme call my wife." One guy piped up, "I don't ask my wife anything, I TELL her how it is!!!" - to which one of us grabbed his cell phone, quickly hit dial & the rest of us chimed in unison, "We all wanna hear this"... :D :p

Yes, it is HHR, Some of our fellow members have a very keen, "sense of humor". For which I am thankful for...........Bob

When I was dating a girl asked why I was cleaning pheasants on the deck of the apartment, and told me to use her kitchen sink. I married her.

She barely tolerates camping and won't hunt or fish. But her Dad did, and she knew how important it was to him, and thus me. I try and be considerate, she trys to understand when I'm gone for a week at a time, and we both keep a "don't ask/don't tell" policy regarding financing hunting and shopping trips.

A friend is in just the opposite situation. She expects him to drop everything now with kids here. Which brings to mind the old adage:

A man marries a woman thinking she'll never change. A woman marries a man thinking he will....both are disappointed.

Mine's a vegan. She eats no animal products whatsoever. Finding a place to eat when we travel is a royal pain in the @$$. However when it comes to my hunting trips, all I have to do is plan them far enough out that I'm not conflicting with any other plans & I get no grief at all. I do make sure that all the critters that come home show up ready for the freezer. I cancelled a hog hunt to go to her sister's wedding, so I shouldn't get any static for thru the 2011/2012 season.
