Food floating

How many float their dogs food in water? Are there advantages? How long do you float it before you feed? I am feeding Purina dry kibble and was just wondering what the advantages would be if any.

wetting helps avoid regurgitation

So how much water is added to say a cup of food, and how long do you let it set?

Tried it with a couple house dogs perhaps 10-15 years ago a, they didn’t seem interested and I thought it may have been a bit disgusting so I never tried it again, perhaps I added a bit too much water.

I don't put a lot of water but I do add water to every meal. I use a food topper and the water helps turn it into a gravy. The downside is my dogs don't like soggy food and if they don't eat right away for whatever reason, they aren't big on eating it later.

When I travel and during hunting season I float food. My dogs get 3-4 cups of food a day, I try 2x day feeding, except on hunting days. I put a couple cups of water per feeding. I do not let the food sit, I feed it immediately.

Floating food will sometimes cause diarrhea, so you have to be a little careful of that.

I float my dogs food year-round but put a bit more water in it the night before training, hunting, or any other big physical activity just to make sure he's a bit better hydrated heading into whatever it is we're doing the following morning. Usually around a cup of water on any given day and probably 1.5 to 2 cups the night before hunting, training, etc.

I float every meal. My guys each eat 4 cups or so once a day (evening), I add just enough warm water so I can see it. Id guess its around 1.5 cups and feed right away. Hydration is tough in the winter as they just don't drink as much plus it slows their eating down a little (freakin labs).

I float during hunting season. I heard that a giant poop also takes away hydration. On hunting days I don’t feed in the morning for that reason. My new GSP eats his food so fast it cause him to choke, so a little water slows it down.

i see it as a way for her to get more water intake than anything else. on overnight road trips, I float the food when we get to the motel at night because she does not tend to drink much when we stop for gas. I also float the food when we get back to the motel room/airbnb after the day's hunt because she does not seem to drink much in the field.
