Food floating

How many float their dogs food in water? Are there advantages? How long do you float it before you feed? I am feeding Purina dry kibble and was just wondering what the advantages would be if any.

So how much water is added to say a cup of food, and how long do you let it set?

Tried it with a couple house dogs perhaps 10-15 years ago a, they didn’t seem interested and I thought it may have been a bit disgusting so I never tried it again, perhaps I added a bit too much water.

I don't put a lot of water but I do add water to every meal. I use a food topper and the water helps turn it into a gravy. The downside is my dogs don't like soggy food and if they don't eat right away for whatever reason, they aren't big on eating it later.

When I travel and during hunting season I float food. My dogs get 3-4 cups of food a day, I try 2x day feeding, except on hunting days. I put a couple cups of water per feeding. I do not let the food sit, I feed it immediately.

Floating food will sometimes cause diarrhea, so you have to be a little careful of that.

I float my dogs food year-round but put a bit more water in it the night before training, hunting, or any other big physical activity just to make sure he's a bit better hydrated heading into whatever it is we're doing the following morning. Usually around a cup of water on any given day and probably 1.5 to 2 cups the night before hunting, training, etc.
