Fiocchi golden pheasant.

They suck!! They pattern terrible , misfires, and my buddy and i both shoot benelli cordobas so its not the gun!! Since i have changed over to premium federals #5s shooting 1500fps 1and3/8 ounce shot nothing but dead freaking birds they cost the same maybe a dollar or two more but who cares same with kent shells junk !! In a 20 guage the federal prairie storm in a #6 1 ounce shot gets it done there shooting 1350fps

It very well may be the gun. A good gun shoots anything you put through it. I shoot O/U's for the most part and shoot 1,000's of rounds a year. From target loads to 3.5" full boat goose loads. In the last six, seven years since going to the O/U's. I have never had a single shell refuse to fire, no matter the brand.

IMO, the Golden Pheasant are a good load, not the best but a good value for the dollar. Really, nearly any shell and load has the ability to kill roosters if the you and the gun do your part.

Put wolff springs in benellis, they have several bad runs. +20 wolff will cycle anything. The benelli spring if there not tempered right wont cycle. I had the same problem with an m2. Wouldn't cycle cold, wouldn't cycle dry. Kents ,winchesters you name it.

I agree with everyone else, golden pheasants drop them dead right there.

Fiochii

I can only find them for my 16gauge in 5s here at Gander. I wish I could find them in 6s. They've never carried the 6s at Gander and I am there frequently. Would like to have some of both.

Not much better than GF....my .02. I like 12 ga. HV 1 3/8 oz. #5.

After I ran out of GF I tried some of the Prairie Storm #5...liked them as well.

Both out of modified chokes.

As good as any

In my 20 ga. Baretta with I.C. they pattern better than any other shell I have used. I shoot 3", 1 1/4 oz of 6's and kill cleanly out to about 40yds. I also like the Winchester Pheasant load and have about the same results with it.

I have never shot any except on the skeet range at the insistence of one of the fellow members there.
Nothing remarkable IMO, I do use Fiochii hulls however when I hand load for my 16.
Most of my loads run between 1200 and 1340 FPS, and 7/8 to 1 oz of shot , regardless of the gauge. In the very late season I will often switch to 5's or 6's and 1 1/8 oz if the birds are flushing further than normal, but it's rarely the case up here.
I don't shoot the 12 for upland, except for my black powder hammer doubles.
I DO use nickle plated shot however, no matter what size, as I have found that it does not drag feathers into the meat so easily as even extra hard lead does.
For those not aware, it's not really plated, but washed, it does make enough difference that I don't mind paying the extra money for it, and IIRC the Golden pheasants are nickle or copper plated.

Fiocchi #5s in 12 gauge are my go-to ammo. They're just fast enough to penetrate the vitals on a going away shot. I find that some of the shells that are even faster, like Prairie Storm, don't pattern as well as the Fiocchis. It all depends on your gun though. Different guns pattern better with different shells.
